Beasley or Mayo?

Post#1 » by shrink » Tue Jun 3, 2008 8:14 pm

While this may not have been a question before, great workouts by Mayo and some questions about Beasley have emerged in the last couple weeks.

Who do you hope is available to MIN with the third pick?

With all the beasting that would be going on at PF and SF, perhaps we would need to reconsider our moniker:

I think this is tough since so many here have been psyching themselves up for Mayo. Additonally, all the talk is about how Mayo has improved this and is working on that. I find myself torn a bit since I, as many others, have probably gotten very attached to Mayo.

On the otherhand, we cannot dismiss everything Beasly did during the college season and he did it like Jefferson, as the option 1 and 2, usually, for his team. This means more touches, but also means so much more focus from the defense. He is somewhat a tweener though and would be out of position for us.

Given the choice, I think you have to pick Beasly but could use him as a trade asset if the fit was a concern, which it may be if Al is the 4 and Beasly isn't deemed a good fit at 3. Have to like his shooting ability though.

Of course Beasley, but the Heat won't simply give him away. If they decide Beasley will be a part of their future, they will trade him, they won't draft Mayo.

I think Mayo will be there, but honestly don't care. I prefer Beasly for the Wolves lineup

Beasley hands down for me.

I figured Beasley was pretty unanimous, but Mayo was the consolation prize. I'd trade up for Beasley, honestly.

The idea of Mayo and Foye in the backcourt has really grown on me but I wouldn't be mad if B-Easy fell to us though.

It's hard to say, Beasley is the better player, but Mayo has so much else going for him. Commitment to defense, good attitude and work ethic, and he seems like he would be happier to be in Minnesota.

I'd be happy with either, and if we were drafting second I'd pick Beasley, but I'll just say I'm glad we're picking 3rd.

you won't be glad when McHale leaves Mayo on the board and picks up big Lopez

I thought of another good reason we gotta get Brook, and then trade the two 2nds for a late first and get his twin Robin

we're the Twin Cities, so we need some twins

..... aaaaand twiiiins!

Not exactly the twins I would be looking to cheer about, but we do need a few bigs on the team.

It is going to be a long month waiting.

They both have something great for them: They're not Brook Lopez.

I don't think it is close at all - the wolves would have to draft Beasley if there was a choice between the two. He's a much better player right now and a better prospect.

Easy easy, the choice is Mike Beasley.

It was great that we didnt drop lower than three and we still have the chance to get Mayo, but its still a two person draft. Maybe Mayo has closed the gap somewhat (in addition to all of us psyching ourselves up for Mayo), but Beasley is still the guy to have, of those two.

I'd be curious what this vote would have looked like two weeks ago, before the lottery? 95% Beasley?

Maybe I'll run it again in another two weeks, right before the draft.
