Pre-Draft Camp Measurements are out

No Speights, but still lots of numbers to over-analyze.

Probably there are only a few instances where these numbers truly project major problems or potential in players that hasn't already shown on the court, but it is still interesting.

I was wondering if Love would have a better standing reach than Thaddeus, and it turns out they both are the same (8'10".) Brook Lopez (9'5") has a 7" reach advantage to Love when they are fighting for a rebound. Keep in mind that other undersized PF's like Boozer and Brand had long arms (Boozer's reach is 9'1.5", making him effectively 3.5" taller than Love.) On the other hand, promising back-ups like Maxiel (8'11), Bass (8'10.5) and Milsap (8'9.5) are in Loves range.

Arthur's numbers are underwhelming, measuring out only 6 lbs heavier and 0.5" longer reach than Young (and the same weight and 1" longer reach than Iguodala when he was drafted.)

The biggest impact of these measurements is in how it will effect GM's. Some players may drop (Arthur), while others might rise dramatically effecting the Sixers options.

Looking at last years numbers, to be fair to Love, his numbers are pretty close to Horford's. He measured out as a good athlete.

Love's vertical and bench press numbers will do him well.

Donte Green measured out pretty well, conversely Darrell Arthur's numbers are very disapointing.

Eric Gordon has an insane wingspan for his size. I think Gordon may be the Thad Young of this draft, drafted lower than he would have been out of high school after an inconsistent freshman season, but makes a very good pro, possibly better than Mayo or Bayless.

I always love how some guys are 0.5 inches taller in their shoes and others are about 2 inches taller. Hey, get me a pair of those platform Nikes.

Yes...for anyone who wanted Darrel Arthur as the PF for the Sixers, they better have the same opinion about Alexander. Really shocked they measured out so similarly considering how much more athletic Alexander appeared on the court. Who knows how they pan out in the pros, but Alexander really does stand out when you compare the two.

Love's vert was more than expected...still a bit undersized. If you are going to roll the dice on 2-3 year potential, Randolph and McGee. Randolph is a risk if you take him too high, but he'll probably still go in the top 5-6. McGee is so long and athletic, but how can you tap into that head and get some production?? I saw some of the internet clips, and he really moves like a skilled PF, and now he measures out like a true center. How much of a gamble is he @ 16?? Not my first choice, but if he has the head and work ethic, he really could be something in a few years.

Much less excited after looking at the measurements...will they post the Euro measurements somewhere? Now I'm more interested in guys like Batum, KK, Ajinca to see how they compare to the Americans.

McGee's standing reach is only surpassed by Yao Ming's measurements historically. Not sure if some others didn't measure, but that's the only one that tops him in the historical chart. On the flip side, O'Bryant and Sene are right below him by about an inch, so standing reach doesn't mean a ton if you can't play the game.
