A simple what if: Alonzo wants one more year. Not that he would actually come here, but if he would what do you think? Does he have enough in the tank to back up Al for 16 minutes a night? Would his veteran presence help our front line?
Personally I thought he was still getting it done on D and rebounding before he got injured. It's a long way back from the knee injury, but in theory I think we'd be a good location for him as a shot blocking backup C is one of our needs. He'd probably be a good teacher of some of the finer vet tricks to our other bigs.
Of course if he does come back I'm sure he'll opt for a spot on a team that he sees as more of a title contender or he'll be in Miami again. Financially, we'll probably be stuck with a minimum salary crap shoot of a big or hope that Solomon fits the bill.

This is my 100% seal of guarantee, the only place Alonzo Mourning will play next year if he does play is Miami and the only reason he will play there is because: A) He loves the city of Miami B) He loves the game of basketball C) He loves the Miami Heat D) He wants to continue mentoring young basketball players and E) He might be looking at this year as the first year of being an assistant coach (undeclared assistant) similar to what many aging vets have done.
