according to GoldenStateofmind, Baron wants a 5year deal worth 75million...
Here's the link: http://www.warriorsworld.net/news/lates ... state.html
I don't know how credible the source is...but hey is he worth that? If not let the sign and trade deals begin.

He is not getting 5 years, 75M obviously. I highly doubt that he would request that much, either. He might as well ask for 20M a year if he is going to shoot for the stars. Anyways, I dont believe the information.
Baron has little to gain by leaking to Ws fans that he is seeking 75M or will demand a trade.
The Warriors have little to gain by leaking the info to the public since it makes their current #1 player and also their #1 trade asset look bad.
Stories like this that have no source are to be taken with a grain of salt.

come on ROWELL. now i promised myself i was going to stop defending Davis, but in this case i have to. lol.
anyways last time i checked Baron led his team to 48 wins in a much tougher division, while Miller lead his team to 40 wins in the weaker East.
Warriors would have been 4th in the East with their record and that's while playing the Western Conference schedule.
imagine if they got to play an Eastern Conference schedule all year. most likely equals a few more wins and they likely end up as 3rd in the East.
then go ahead and imagine if Miller and Philly were playing in the West and tell me what you think their record would be? i'm willing to bet it isn't better than the 40 wins they got in the East and therefore they sit at the bottom of the West well below the Warriors.

Late to the party. We've already heard from even Baron's least insightful defenders that they'd like to trade him for Andre Miller and that Philadelphia would jump at the opportunity.
We've moved on to how dumb Baron's contract demands are for such an unreliable prima donna.

Baron's terrified of being traded for drafted youth or better longterm investments but equally terrified of opting out and then letting the Warriors get Gilbert Arenas. I'm a little unclear about the ETO stuff, perhaps someone with better understanding can help me out.
Can he do something right now toprove how much he loves the Bay and wants to stay or is he stuck just waiting for his ETO date to pass before the contract resumes active (and liquid) status?

That would show a lot of love.
He could also give notice that he's not opting out, but rather than that showing how much love he has for Oakland, it would just allow him to be traded earlier.

yes! and then shut down his yardbarker account... cause that thing is so annoying!!1!
and for God sakes don't inquire if other teams might be interested in you... that's a slap in the face to all the loyal fans of the team.

thanks for the sig Boogie!

The sarcasm with which folks protect Baron's freedom to leave the team is more than a little ironic, considering the impressive amount of BS the same characters have launched at those who adamantly contend he has been looking for nothing but top dollar and looking out for no one but himself for some time.

So Rowell, did Baron bang your sister and forget to call her back or did he run over your poodle?
Seriously, the well of hate runs so deep within you.
You write the words 'looking out for no one but himself' and 'looking for only top dollar.' Normal people say 'he is looking for the best possible situation for himself career-wise and financially.'
We arent children here, Rowell. The only person shocked by the behavior of Baron (and every other pro athlete) is you. But its a thinly veiled expression of shock. Its pretty obvious that you just hate the guy and want others to share your hate.
You are like freaking Darth Vader....Come to the Dark Side and feel the power!

Your seething pedantry is charming. Leave it to the professionals.

I see intoday's Wiretap that Gilbert (or his agent, no doubt) reread his contract and find that he has until June 20 to opt out, not June 30.
This is interesting since I thought that NBA contracts expire on June 30 and new contracts kick in on July 1. With the draft on June 26, it seems that the league would be better served if players eligible to opt out declared prior to the draft so teams might draft knowing the potential of losing key players beforehand.
I hope that Todd R. is rereading Baron's contract right now.
