If Batum projects to a SG, I'm OK with that pick @ 16. Speights may be OK as well. Take a young player with a lot of upside @ 16...there's nobody who should step in and be a huge upgrade/starter, so plan for 2 years down the road, and hope this player shocks you the way Thad did last season. If this pick can be a 10-15 minute a game player/contributor this season, it would be a huge win for Ed.

IS a forum the place to voice an opinion or not ? Strangely some people think that if you don't agree with them , it is tantamount to an attack on their judgement and person. I for for one do not feel that way. I haven't seen much of him . No doubt , But ZI will always be wary when there are very few clips and so many differing accounts of one player. To me that can only mean one thing. He is inconsisent and shows glimpses and flashes of potential but not enough for anyone to be sold. How you are so sure of his abilities is to be questioned. You have not spoken once of his shortcomings as an objective person would but have shotdown any critique of his abilities . You constantly mention that you have watched 10 of his games. Are the critiques of his game true ? Does he have problems that are in line with what is said about him on some of these draft sites? Are you telling us that he has no weaknesses? IS he truly what the sixers need? Is he the BPA no matter who is on board at 16? YOu are just professing you undying love for the guy that is all. Oh and another thing is the sarcasm so neccesary ( the clapping Icons the personal attacks ) It is very childish. No hard feelings.
The icons are just to show I am a positive person. I did not show you any negative icons. I will not let your negativity brush off on me.
All you have to do to read the negativity about the player is to go to Hoopshype and you will find all the negativity you want. I weigh the positive and the negative to draw my conclusions, but most of all I decide upon my own free will, not with somebody showing me reading material of a player that I have seen play many times.
By the way, being the 16th pick is no bargain. You do not expect a great player at 16 anyway. However, if you can pick up a post player with an outside touch like Speights, you pull the trigger like the Lone Ranger.
If you do not like Speights at 16, just talk about what you like, instead of worrying what I like. The 76ers fooled the league on Thaddeus Young last year and can pull it off two years in a row with Speights.
On another website, I called for the drafting of Young last year, so let me take another shot at it. I like to use my eyes.

Excuse me, I think your just being sassy because the forum is free. Most players have weaknesses in the NBA, so what in the blazes are you talking about. I like Speights because he is better than most players on the board. He has a luxury, which is scoring in the post. I do not see any weaknesses.
If you watch Gators basketball, it always seems that Donovan allows the guards to shoot more than the front court. That was the case when the Gators won their 2 titles. I was surprised you did not know that,

You need to use your eyes more to believe in youself, otherwise weak beat writers like Jasner and Narducci can take you to the cleaners, since it's the New Testament when they talk.

Enough back and forth guys. Sure, Speights has weaknesses. But his strengths also happen to play into what we need from a PF. If this kid can approach anywhere near the guy he's been compared to (Al Jefferson), he's going to be a solid part of our future. This team needs a guy who can move the pile under the rim - someone who can dislodge the Jason Maxiells and Andrew Bynums. Sam is NOT that man. But Speights appears to have the physical attributes to play that role - and if we're able to nab him at 16, you've got to take that chance.
The only other PF I'm intrigued with at 16 is Donte Green, but while I think he's fit perfectly in our up-temp offense, I'm not so sure he's the right guy in terms of filling that void we have. It would seem to me that Green is more of a finesse PF, which would probably be more of a luxury at this point considering our real needs.
