because that's the most effective pump fake? Honestly how often do you see a wing player get a person on the second pump fake during a mid-range shot?

usually after the first one the defender decides he's going to not try and just hope the shooter misses.

Maybe you're just not found of players like TA or Perkins. It's cool, I'm personally not found of shooters that are getting paid a lot of money [I still hate Wally even as I type]

I like Perkins..unlike Tony, he doesn't bite on EVERY fake. And you see guys bite on the second or third fake much more than the first one...do you watch a lot of basketball?
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

There is an entire sticky on this, but here goes.

-Click on 'profile' in your realgm menu.

-Scroll to 'signature' (you already have one so we know you've got this far before)

-Copy and paste the following URL into the signature box:

-Place the above URL in between these:

-Click Submit

Voila! LA is beaten!

Bro, but there is a difference between a pump fake on the wing and inside. When you're pump faking outside, the most effective one is the first one off the dribble because a shooter needs to be in rhythm and the offensive player dribbles to a spot before the pump fake. And therefore, a defender usually bites on the first one, just like that one where Ray picked up his 5th foul against Rip's pump fake. The subsequent pump fakes aren't as effective on the wing because a shooter doesn't have the rhythm to get a good shot off, after a 2nd or 3rd one.

OTOH, it's different inside. You see players pump faking 3 or even 4 times because all you need is for the defender to be off time for a sec to get the layup off because you're usually close enough to not need good rhythm to make a shot. And the defender is usually standing still when the fake is given, not chasing a shooter to a spot, as is the case outside.

I understand some people's frustration with TA's lapses, but you can't deny the fact that he's got the athleticism and the track record that shows that he can be a good wing defender. He's shown his ability to play good D, far more often than falling for pump fakes. It's just that playing good D and forcing your man to pass out doesn't stand out in your mind nearly as much as biting on a pump fake to give up free throws.

Allen is the kind of guy who stumbles and looks awkward when called upon unexpectedly, often making mistakes and fouls. If you give him a specified role, I like the way he plays

my thoughts exactly----doc has really mishandled tony at times
carve out a meaningful role for him--he deserves it; esp playing D on Kobes

GuyClinch wrote:I hope he plays. I really like Tony Allen's attitude - when he's right he is just a furious intense kind of player. He takes way to much flack around here. So he bit on a pump fake? You think no one else does?

er, like our super hot, two-years away from all-star, potential hall of famer point guard, Rondo did against Billups in the all-important last minutes of game 5 of the East Finals???

Why does Tony get this rap? The reg season game against Detroit was just a reg season game.

I don't think it's been wise to not keep Tony in the lineup.

I really am worried that Ray can keep Kobe in the building at 32, has he ever done that? Tony maybe can.

Once again, I'm with Pete.
