The Gasol trade was bad, not only because they didn't get anything in return, but also because they put a team from the same conference in a position to be a force for the next few years. So they are going nowhere.

From some newspaper articles, that was the one reason why Minnesota didn't want to trade KG to the Lakers or Suns.

I actually think the worst part of the deal (and the shadiest) is that they made it well before the trading deadline. Heisley basically admits in this piece that Wallace failed to speak with every team. Later that month, Shawn Marion got shipped out of town (potential expiring contract) and the Mavs put together a very nice package for Jason Kidd (better than what Memphis got IMO).

But even if they had ONLY been looking for cap space, there still would have been better offers out there than a mid-first PG on a team with two other young points and two late in the draft picks. Phoenix for example was sitting on the Atlanta pick this year. GS might not have been willing to move Bierdens or someone like that, but you never know until you call. Plain and simple, Wallace is proving his mettle as one of the worst GMs of all time!

It's been mentioned before, but it needs to be said again:

Chris Wallace is the antithesis of Red Auerbach. Chris Wallace was conceived with only one mission in life - to destroy the Boston Celtics.

- He was hired by Pat Riley in Miami, where he was probably taught to hate the Celtics. Chris Wallace is the Darth Vader to Pat Riley's Darth Sidious.
- Chris eventually was hired by Boston, to destroy the franchise from within, which he did a pretty good job at.
- Chris drafted Kedrick Brown when he could have had Richard Jefferson.
- Chris drafted Joe Johnson, then traded him for Tony Delk and Rodney Rogers.
- Chris drafted Joe Forte ahead of Tony Parker and Gilbert Arenas.
- Chris eventually took a job with the Memphis Grizzlies after being demoted by Ainge. Now we find out that West was instrumental in getting Chris on board.
- Jerry West and Chris are both from West Virginia. Jerry West also happens to be a Laker. I wonder who Chris' favorite player was as a kid? Hmmm
- Jerry West leaves Memphis, and takes a job as a "consultant" with the Lakers
- Chris trades Pau Gasol to the Lakers for trash.

Your plan won't work Chris. BEAT LA! BEAT LA! BEAT LA!

Joe Forte was Reds pick. They let him have that one. Red always said that He picked Joe forte because of his unbeleivable athleticism. Everything else I completely agree with.

Apart from Red beefing on Forte (which he readily took the blame for after), spot on.

BEAT LA!
It's still 17 to 11!!!!
