Beasley only 6 foot 8! with shoes!

Post#1 » by mrfatwrecker » Wed Jun 4, 2008 9:05 pm

So Beasley's height was initially exaggerated to a 6 foot 10. At pre draft workouts, he was measured to be only 6 foot 8 in shoes. Do you think that will seriously affect his draft stock?

I mean, look at Boozer. He's 6'10 and people still talk about him being undersized. Beasley is trying to come in and be somewhat of the same kind of player. How is he going to fare?

Michael Beasley is not the 6-10 that he was listed as at Kansas State, the Associated Press is reporting.

Beasley measured in at 6-foot-8 1/4 tall with basketball shoes on, according to measurements taken at last week's NBA predraft camp near Orlando and released by the league Tuesday.

"I didn't know there was a height requirement for the NBA," Beasley said last week, poking fun at the incessant speculation about his height.

The truth is everyone's size is exaggerated in the NBA.

Boozer is listed at 6'9 but he's about 6'8, and rarely do people complain about his size.

Really not a big deal, standing reach matters much more then height, look at Elton Brand.

I dont think it will matter that much, but height does matter to a degree. Many people thought he could play PF at 6'10 and his weight, but now it might be a little different and he might strictly be a SF or just an undersized pf

He could be somewhat like Big Nasty Corliss Williamson.

Beasley's career is over. No one is going to draft that 6'7'' - 6'8'' bust now... Hopefully the Heat can find a good 7 footer with the second pick, some flat out tall stud in the Michael Olowokandi mold would be great. Olowokandi was so tall.

Larry Johnson and Malik Rose were both in reality around 6'5.5" without shoes.

LOL @ anybody who thought Beasley was anywhere close to being 6'10". I mean use your freaking eyes people, LOL.

I don't think any less of the Beasley after those measurements, probably because I never believed in that "listed" height of 6'10" or whatever kind of ridiculously inflated value that was to begin with.

To quote Beasley, "I didn't know there was a height restriction in the NBA!"

You guys are camparing his hight to that of Malik Rose, but Rose was a bench player and Beasley is supposed to be a franchise player.

Well, that makes all the difference in the world. After all, being a franchise player has nothing to do with what a player can actually DO on the court; it's about how tall he is.

I don't care if Beasley is 5'9" in reality if he's nutsacking power forwards and taking their lunch money.

Nope. Barkley couldn't beat Jordan because he was shorter than him, ergo height matters
