RPG is probably the most worthless stat out there. I can say that "The lakers are a terrible rebounding team, after all, they gave up 17rpg to tim duncan" but that doesn't make it true. RPG doesn't mean ****

Turiaf is not a Euro player. He's from the Caribbean and played at Gonzaga.

Odom is not necessarily soft, but if he is going to be LA's de facto center by guarding Perkins, and give up 35 pounds to KPerk, he is going to play soft in relation to Perkins. Perk will just outmuscle him and push him out of the way for easy rebounds and putbacks.

Perk's main challenge this series will not be getting points or offensive rebounds. It will be staying out of foul trouble while guarding the pick and roll effectively. He saw a lot of bench time in Cleveland because he could not effectively close out on Zydrunas Ilgauskas, a similar player to Pau Gasol in that they are both good jumpshooters if you double that team's star wing (Lebron or Kobe). Luckily, Pau is not as long as Big Z, meaning Perk can likely get out and bother him better. Additionally, Perk CANNOT try and intimidate Kobe and foul often. He must play within his limits on defense and keep #24 off the line.

If he stays out of foul trouble and guards Gasol modestly well, he will do more than enough damage to be a net plus for us. He should dominate the glass and putbacks in this series, and must focus on clearing the defensive boards from Gasol and Odom.

This is pretty much the long and short of it...Big Z is actually a better shooter than Pau though, so the matchup is a bit easier in that dimension of it...the real challenge will be for Perk to stay balanced and not go for Pau's fakes when he faces up...

I can tell you this though, Pau isn't going to be posting up and the Lakers aren't going to be getting a ton of points in the paint in half-court sets beyond Kobe's driving pull-ups...Pau and Odom are going to be facing up and the Lakers are going to be trying for transition.

The thing I really like about this match up is exactly that...the Lakers want to get into transition so badly and everyone thinks this is a big advantage, but this should really play into the hands of 4 players: Perk, Rondo, Ray Allen, and...Tony Allen...

Rondo and Ray especially will enjoy this and should get off nicely if LA wants to run...this will help Boston...

At the end of the day, most posessions are half-court though and Perk/KG will win the battle on the inside against Pau/Odom I believe...Boston's interior D is too staunch to get beaten...

...I really just feel that Boston is a lot tougher than LA and is going to shock them off the bat, which very well could carry them through the first two games...I don't think LA is good enough to win 3 in a row, so if Boston holds serve at home, they should get two cracks at winning the title in Boston...

...and as good as Kobe is, I don't think GPA will be denied this close to the finish line-they are going to be AWESOME in this series...if Rondo and Perk are playing at a high level, I don't see LA taking 4 games...

Look no further than the Detroit series where Perk man-handled McDyess, Rasheed, and Maxiel. We all saw the numbers, 18 pts and 16 boards. And that was against the much, much, much tougher Detroit Pistons.
