ATL revisting SAC town?
Would you do :
Marv + Speedy + ATL 09 2nd
Artest + SAR + SAC 2nd
SAR= Speedy in terms of dead weight. Advantage SAC as Speedy may come off the books earlier but ATL gets a proven vet at SF , defensive specialist who could complement Smoothe and Al on the front court and bring offensive releif to JJ?
Thoughts? Today for tomorrow.

Now this is the type of transaction that needs to be offered.
Even if the Hawks don't get it done, does Artest and Bibby have bad chemistry together?
I would like RA to replace Marvin. Yes, we shouldn't give up on Marvin yet, but we need someone with intangibles on this roster. RA just might mesh with this lineup.

Sounds interesting. The idea has potential. Artest would bring a big boost to this team for a short time. My problem is how can we afford resigning both Smoove and Chill and take on Artest's contract too? While we don't have to pay all that money for long if we don't keep Bibby or Artest, it's quite a gamble from a chemistry perspective, and I have to ask would we have enough to move to that elite level to gun for a championship. IMO, we'd still desperately need more bench help to keep from being in the same position as last season. Granted, Law will hopefully be better and Chill (if resigned) will contribute, but who do we have beyond that.
If Sund can pull it off (which I don't doubt) and ASG is willing to pony up the cash, I think it's worth the gamble. I'd still like to see them get another player or two for the bench, but we would be much more competitive.

Don't know why Sac would do it honestly. Marvin has a year left, Artest has a year left. Artest is more willing to sign a smaller contract because he is screwed up in the head and no one is going to throw huge money at him.
I mean, you do it in a heart beat (then move bibby for someone that shows a little effort on D) but I am not sure why Sac would do it.

If Speedy was 100% he should challenge for a starting spot. In my opinion, when healthy he is a better fit for us than Bibby. But we all know that he isn't going to be 100%.
It would be a shame if he stole Law's minutes next year. Acie's rookie year is over, now we have to put him out there and see what we have.

Well what would our bench look like because this doesn't really make much room to work around for resigning both the Joshes. I think that's the most important thing right now. It should be more important to trade away for quality players, which may also include bench quality players. I'd rather us sign / trade in order to solidify our bench and keep most of our starters rather than anything else.

In this case, we don't have to think about trading while creating room to re-sign both Joshes.
Artest cost $1.8M more than Marvin next year, that's all. If you think that this $1.8M are justified, you can go for it. But we don't have to think about it for the extension of the Joshes.
Room will come next year, if we keep Bibby, he will certainly be re-signed for less than now. His new contract will create $5M room. Then Speedy will come off, giving another $5M.
So if you can trade Artest for Marvin and you think the team will be better, go for it, but don't think a minute about the Joshes extension.
Keeping Marvin or not, we are about to give them extension, so it won't be $1.8M that should change it.
The only question would be: can we keep Artest after next year ?
Not sure. Speedy has the same problem than Andre Miller: no 3pts shot, so Joe wont be able to give him open shot like he can do with Bibby.
But I agree on the fact that he can be a better fit against some teams or lineups, when we have to run, run, run... and better defense.
Now, we all know that even if he succeed to play this coming season, his injury is too important to let him healthy for the next years. We can already forget about him in the long term project.

neither Speedy nor SAR are healthy (and would be).
SAR salary is a bit lower and ofset the difference between marv and RA.
You could also go with Marv +Solo for RA.
Why for SAC town because he needs a challenge or it will rot the team from the inside. SAC cannot provide that anymore. They are in rebuilding mode and no way they can rebuild around him due to his age and his desire to play for a competing team. ATL and SAC are the perfect match. He brings vet's competitiveness, thoughness and defense.
I will gamble...
