If those are actually his intentions (to purposely avoid being drafted to a small-market team), I don't know that I want a guy with that kind of ego on my team. The core of the Clippers at the moment (EB, Kaman, Livingston) are all about the greater good. And I have this thing against big egos.

Yeah, I've always gotten that vibe from Mayo- it's like he's already a 'professional' athlete, only I mean that in a bad way.
OTOH he will be gone by our current draft spot. But if he were to actually fall to us, there's no way we pass him up, being that he apparently is willing to play in LA (ooohh, we're so lucky!)

Mayo won't be there at 7, but the likelihood that Memphis or Minnesota would want to swap pick with us increases significantly if Mayo won't want to play for them. Either Memphis or Minny will still be able to draft either Lopez or Love from 7 and maybe our second round pick or another asset and we can draft OJ at either #3 of #5 overall.

I'm typically against these type of attitudes (Yi, Francis, Bryant, etc.) with these rookies coming into the league. It's a draft not a buffet. This is the same guy that said it was more important to him to be drafted as high as possible rather than the best fit possible.
On the flip side, it's refreshing to see someone actually want to play for us.

Classic!
This is good news for the Clippers, but I agree with other posters, that it probably doesn't make it any more likely he'll be available to be drafted at #7. I think he clearly has more value than the #4, and there are plenty of teams that would love Mayo (and where he'd want to play) and those teams would still compete to pay for him, so his trade value won't decrease. However, after he gets his new agent, if its true that he doesn't want to play in MIN, this increases the probability he will be available, and that gives the Clippers another option.
