Yeah, I was amazed by that play. I didn't think he still had springs like that. He was head level with the rim.

Indeed, that's the 38 inch vertical I remember, I think it was adrenaline.

The Spurs are 4 time champs. What are the Celtics again?

What does that have to do with this season and the matchups? Do you watch basketball? Celtic were and are better than the Spurs this season. That's a no brainer.

great analysis.

I'm not ABC or a boxscore. Any moron who watched Kobe's poor shot selection or looked at how he shot in the 4th quarter can see this.

Even if Celtics win game 2, the series is far from over .. I expect the spread in La to be at least -5...most likely -6 or even -7.. Pretty comfortable favorites.

I didn't say I was good at predicting, I said I was good because I predicted tonight's game result right. I already explained my intention in doing that to That Nicka on the previous page.

No, it's irrelevant because what That Nicka posted didn't have anything to do with what I posted. It wasn't even what I specifically predicted, anyway.

Props to the Celtics and especially KG and Ray Allen, and I even predicted that Sam Cassell would have an impact in this series. He already has.

Having said that, as a Laker fan I am ok with this loss and here's why: the Lakers played atrociously. A lot of those missed baskets, they usually make. I'm sorry but the Celtic's defense wasn't that suffocating. There were plenty of open jump shots to go around. The Celtics, meanwhile, were pretty much firing on all cylinders like they had to.

This game was kept relatively close, I suspect Kobe and especially Lamar will have bounce back games - they typically do. If they get the next game that will be HUGE for them.

The spread doesn't determine anything. It's based on speculation.

If we look at the matchups it is the Celtics series to lose. Everyone is picking the Lakers because they are basing it off previous unrelated playoff series and the mainstream media is enamored by Kobe. The NBA is about matchups and unless Kobe becomes MJ I really dont see them winning the series.

Guys, let's tone it down on the back and forth regarding who was right/wrong with these predictions. I don't think Ballings7 meant anything by it and this whole situation is being blown out of proportion. So drop it -- everyone.

Good news for Celt fans

Backed by Boston assistant Tom Thibodeau's schemes, in three games against the Celtics this season, Bryant is shooting a combined 24-for-72 from the floor. That's 33 percent. By shooting nine of 26 -- 35 percent -- Bryant actually improved his season-long field-goal percentage vs. the Celtics.

And the majority of those possessions have come with Allen checking Bryant solo. Help is never far away from other Celtics, but by and large it's Allen's show.

Bryant gives the defense no credit, saying this was merely a case of "missing bunnies ... Hopefully I'll get those same looks in Game 2."

Kobe's never seen a flaw in his own game in his life. Glad to see he thinks he was getting bunnies out there when everyone else saw him being forced into low percentage bail out shots. I wouldn't want him to adjust.

I'm not worried at all for the Lakers. The Celtics didn't dominate the Lakers like they had in the regular season. Also the Celtics leprechaun was on their side tonight.

Pierce's knee popping, getting carried off the court and 10 minutes later him coming back into the game and hitting 2 three pt shots was a momentum change that can't be depended on.

That play where KG saves a backcourt violation and Cassell makes the shot was another momentum changer. You could feel the momentum change when PJ caught the ball and Cassell shoot. I knew he would make it before he released it.

People want to hate on Kobe for his poor shooting game but he wasn't the only one shooting bad. For all the hype about the Celtics defense look at how well the Lakers D was. The Celtics shot 42%. The Lakers have shown they can shut down the Celtics offense.

The Lakers lost the game in on area really and that was at the FT line. They got into the penalty with 8 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter and the Celtics took advantage. Rondo, Pierce and Allen all made back breaking FT's. Straight up the Lakers can hold the Celtics offense. I remember the Lakers causing shot clock violations and on play in particular the shot clock was at 1 second and Vujacic had Ray Allen and bailed him out when Ray sold out on his jumpshot.

Celtics starting 5 got 33 FT's. If the Lakers can keep from putting the Celtics in the penalty early in quarters they can win......

The C's defended Kobe real well, and I expect that to continue.

However, I don't think his low % is entirely due to defense, but was Kobe's shot not going down.

Yeah if the Celtics win game 2 though the Lakers need to win all 3 in LA.

Celtics played terrible defense in the first half. They need to play with the intensity they had in the fourth. Maybe Kobe will make more shots in game 2 but KG won`t miss everything in the second half either. Nobody can stop KG on the lakers, so he needs to step up and make the shots he usually makes. In the end it is all about the defense. If the celtics play defense for the whole game the are in great position!

Really? Both teams shot 42% from the field. Face it, the Lakers are in trouble unless they learn how to rebound and learn it quick.

i agree the lakers need to quit fouling so much early, they need to keep the rebounding close( since they probably won't win it) and step up the intensity
