Kaman Or Brand

Post#1 » by TheGrowth » Fri Jun 6, 2008 3:46 pm

How can the Nets pry either away from the Clippers?

I figure both picks will be involved, and I am all for it. Dont think there are any players in the draft that can give you the type of production both are capable of.

I don't want Kaman. I don't deny his talent but I don't want him.

I'd love an S&T for Brand. If Maggette opts out, we may be able to get him for RJ/Marcus/filler for Brand/Filler maybe.

I'm not sure either one will be available for a reasonible price. If we want Brand, the best strategy is to trade RJ for an expiring contract & then sign Brand next offseason when he is a free agent.

I agree with you about waiting, but trading RJ is premature. First, We have to see how good Brand is in the last year of his contract. We have to also see how VC comes back next year. I am hoping VC has a great year when he comes back.

I don't think trading RJ is premature. He's reached his peak. I'd even say his play has been slowly deteriorating. He's greatly overpaid, so if we can get something decent for him or even just clear his salary off of the books, I'd pull the trigger.

I don't think he's deteriorating by any means. I think he just lacks focus and drive right now. He admitted last season took a massive toll on him mentally. The whole team took a hit but I think RJ took it to heart the most because Kidd was the last player still a Net besides him from the Glory Days of 2000 and 2001. He either needs a change of scenery to get motivated again, or we need to make a move to ignite the fire in him again.

RJ really needs a change of scenery, maybe somewhere like Mexico, where his skills as a matador will be appreciated a lot more than they are here in New Jersey.

I've always thought that an offer like RJ/Marcus/#40 for Diaw/Barbosa/1st or 2009 1st would be solid for both teams. I mean RJ went to Arizona and would rock in that system personally. Make Grant Hill the 6 man coming off the bench of Bell and RJ. Of course I think a lot of people would hate that deal.

Diaw sucks but i wouldn't mind having Barbosa off of the bench

We need a big man more than anything else though

Actually I dont hate it. IMO for the suns, I just think that VC would be the more realistic person to trade for. Nash, VC, Bell, Amare, Shaq is definitely a win now trade. That should be enough to knock out everyone in the league. If we can get an expiring and a 2010 or 2011 pick instead, that is a done deal.

Harris
Barbosa
RJ
Diaw
S.Will (boone should be here)

Forget Defense that squad would be RUNNING ALL NIGHT LONG.

Never know. Kiki did create the current Nuggets. They pretty much have one defensive presence (kmart too at times) and a bunch of guys that I don't think know how to play defense even if they really really tried.

Actually when you look at that squad, the defense isnt that bad it is kind of balanced.

Harris - Perimeter D
Barbosa - can steal
RJ - His D will come back
Diaw - Not sure
S.Will - Blocking and Defensive Rebounding

Diaw is a solid defender even though he's undersized. I don't care what anyone says about him being bad now, he was awesome when Amare sat out for a year (averages 13, 6 and 6 shooting over 50% and 73% from the line). He's got great court vision and is a smart defensive player. I wish he was like 6'10" but he is a solid defender in the post even with his lack of size.

I really think that he just lost his place on their team now. He's like Milsap...height of a SF but can only play PF. He found ways to make up for it though. In a new system he can probably get back to similar stats which is all I ask.

I think Diaw's inconsistancy and Barbosa's mentally weakness and bad d are on of the bigger reasons for Phoenix failure in the last years.

Don't like these two at all .They're just nice role players that fit nice in D'Antonis system . I first want to see them how they do with a new coach because i don't think they're that good.

Why do you think Phoenix like to trade thm now ? Obviosly they're not sold on these two without D'Antoni as well and try to trade them before they get most likely get exposed in another system.

We gotta get together as a forum and think of like 5 players we would want the Nets to try for this offseason that they have a legit shot at acquiring and just focus conversations on them. That why we won't get the these random threads.
