MIa-Ind??? Thoughts
Im sorry for starting a new thread, you can move it if you may.
What do Pacer fans think of this trade:
Trade ID #4639184 (works finacially)
Mia Gets:
Jermaine O'Neal
Mike Dunleavy
Ike Diogu (expiring)
#11
Ind Gets:
Shawn Marion (expiring)
Udonis Haslem
Mark Blount
Why for Pacers:
You trade Jermaine O'Neal for someone comparable in talent in Shawn Marion who is an expiring contract. I also think Shawn Marion, although he is undersized, would fit well in Indiana in their uptempo type offense. (Isnt Marion from the Indiana area too or am I just trippin??)
Blounts has 1 less year than Dunleavy's on his contract as well. Will allow Ind to resign Granger and either re sign Marion or go after another FA (Elton Brand or Carlos Boozer)
I dont know how much need you have in Udonis Haslem.
Some Memphis fans liked the idea of a
Udonis Haslem
for
Jason Collins (expiring)
Kyle Lowry
What do Pacer fans think of this trade as well:

Ind Gets:

Mark Blount
Jason Collins (expiring)
Kyle Lowry (maybe 28th pick instead)
Mem Gets:
Udonis Haslem

Personally, I'll pass. That trade sucks for us. Let me just get this out there: It is my personal feeling (and very strong common sense), that we will not package the 11th pick with Jermaine O'Neal. So just because some cockamamie article on a half-reputable website said we might try to package our pick with with JO...doesnt mean its going to happen.

Starting the new thread's fine, but I don't like the trade. Maybe if you took Dunleavy out and replaced him with Murphy...maybe, but I don't see a lot of point to it.
Yeah, I know, any trade we do with JO is probably gonna suck, but I'd just as soon not lose Junior and #11 at the same time.

Don't like it. We essentially trade 3 players of value: JO, Dunleavy, and the #11 for Shawn Marion. Haslem is solid, but I don't really know what purpose he would serve on this rebuilding team. JO and Dunleavy's contracts stink, but they still are productive players and are likely worth more to the Pacers than they will ever fetch in a trade. Don't like the idea of trading #11.

Yeah but the Pacers are not a farm team.

I actually don't mind the trade too much if I can counter offer a little.
JO, Murphy, Tinsley and Diogu for Marion, Haslem, Blount and Banks.
We give you the #11 and you give us your #2 and 2009 #1. It's a huge risk for Miami to take taking on JO and taking the contracts of Murph and Tins. I highly doubt they'd do it.

Yeah it's horrible for us. JO only has 2 years left on his contract, so he'll be a $23 mil expiring contract next year and we can get more for him based solely on that. Marion would never stay in Indy once he expired, and Haslem is good but not Dunleavy + 11 good. NOBODY wants Mark Blount, not even his family.

Well with this logic in mind, I have come up with the following deal, with the thoughts that it would get the Pacers to the NBA finals.....CaliHeat wrote:Well I tried, I was just thinking from a Heat's perspective while watching the NBA Finals. that trading for Jermaine O'Neal, Mike Dunleavy and the 11th pick could put us back in the finals.

CaliHeat's trade proposal is awfully lopsided in favor of Miami. But Tinsley straight-up for Blount...would Miami and Indiana do that?
It's too bad that Miami does not own the 31st pick (they traded it to Minnesota). I'd be willing to throw in Diogu with Tinsley and offer them for Blount + #31. But, it's a moot point.

I like it and the best part is, it kinda makes sense for Miami as Tinsley is an upgrade over Williams and Quinn. He would be perfect next to a Wade type player.
For us Blount can be a good C, also allowing us to move Foster for a late 1st round pick.

Unless Miami ends up getting Derrick Rose in the draft.
Miami also has the #52 pick...what would you guys think about Tinsley + Diogu for Blount + #52?
I think I'd do it, even though a pick that low is right next door to useless. Adding Diogu allows us to trade Tinsley for Blount and drop salary next season, rather than adding it.
I think Diogu has no future in Indiana...last year he was 24, in his third year in the league, and still couldn't get off the pine even with our starting power forward missing half the season due to injury. If another team wants to bet on his alleged upside, fine with me. I could see Miami deciding he's worth a gamble if all it costs them is a low second-round pick. Diogu is only guaranteed one more year of salary, at about $2.9 million, so if he doesn't pan out, no big deal.
Of course I like this for Indiana because it gets Tinsley out of town, and the Pacers even save a little money. At this point that's about the most I hope for in a Tinsley trade.

The Bulls said before the lottery that they really wanted Rose. After they got the first pick they've started throwing out this undecided crap. They'd be stupid not to look at their choices right now, but I'm thinking the only reason they're not coming out and saying they'll take Rose is that they don't want the Heat to have that much time to decide whether to keep or trade their pick.

Lets be realistic, Riley said he wants cap space in 2010. Coming from the horses mouth, then your trade is not happening.CaliHeat wrote:Mia Gets:

Dunleavy is over paid. Lucky are the GSW fro trading him and Murphy that help their season last year turn arround, and opposite to what happen with Indy.
Heat will not take Dunleavy's aweful contract even you and I like it, because in reality, Riley will not, base from what he said about his desire in 2010.

I agree. Theres no reason for this trade. Marion has $16 million coming off the books and JO has $21 million. I'd rather keep JO. And the pick, we need that for sure. The way I see it, the next 2 years for us are very crucial. This year we should pick up a solid PG (like Westbrook hopefully) and considering how we do next season (which I dont think will be any better than this season), pick up a PF/C, someone who can play post. And then JO's monster contract will come off the books, then we can hit the free agency market and pick up a big named player(s).

I think that Dunleavy is earning his money as well as, if not better than, anyone else included in that trade, with the following numbers:
19.1 PPG
5.2 RPG
3.5 APG
48% shooting
42% 3's
83% FT's
Seems to be reasonable production for what would be $10.6 mil in 2011, at least in today's market.
Not to say this trade would happen, but it's Miami might not be the team that says no to it.
