Paul Pierce injury like Rip Hamiltons?

Post#1 » by Tricky Ricky » Fri Jun 6, 2008 12:54 pm

I was reading Sullys post in the other thread and it made me think that Pierce injury could be like RIps from game 5 going into game 6. We kept hearing reports that Rip was hurt and if the game was on thursday he wouldnt have played, then on Fri night he did play and didnt look to be hurt at all. Do you guys think if PP is fine we will keep hearing PP might not play due to injury, if so it will be a long weekend for Celtics fans.

not even close

pierce is actually hurt
rip was never hurt, watch the play with rip again if you get a chance, no way he seriously injured his arm doing that
pierce on the other hand had perk come right down on his leg

I agree it pissed me off when the commentators kept saying and a great shot by an injured Hamilton on friday night, Im just asking if Paul has recovered from it and will be ready to go for Sunday do you think we will hear reports from the Celtics saying that he might not play Sunday?

Mike and Mike were dogging Pierce saying he's not Walt Frasier.
Pierce really got hurt and came back out.
He made his shots, does that mean he's fine?
No, it just means he's that good.

first of all, it's willis reed. secondly, they're just mad because pierce isn't more hurt than he really is because they are ny lover's picking and hoping for the lakers.

If Rip wasn't hurt then why wouldn't he come back to finish the game?

I hope Rip's injury isn't nagging him and keeping him from casting well while he is fishing.

It was too embarrassing for Pierce to get in the wheelchair. It was no act.

Pierce's performance in Game 1 was by any metric a lot more impressive than what Willis Reed did.

Reed really didn't do squat. He hit two shots and that was it, didn't even play a lot of minutes.

What Reed did was "inspire" his teammates to win.

Pierce on the other hand WON THE GAME by kicking the Lakers butts.

"If I'm not mistaken, I think Willis Reed missed a whole half and three quarters almost of a game and literally had to have a shot, a horse shot, three or four of them in his thigh to come back out and play," Jackson said. "Paul got carried off and was back on his feet in a minute.

"I don't know if the angels visited him . . . in that timeout period that he had or not, but he didn't even limp when he came back out on the floor. I don't know what was going on there. Was Oral Roberts back there in their locker room?" Jackson said, making a reference to the controversial American televangelist who preached the possibility of miracles.

Pierce is a great player and it was certainly a pivotal moment in Game 1 when he came back out but comparing a player who was out of the game for less than 2 minutes to what Willis Reed did is ridiculous. Reed was really hurt and although knee injuries can be scary if Pierce was seriously hurt there's no way he could have come back out as quickly as he did with no visible effects of an injury if he suffered an injury anywhere close to the extent of Reed's. Take it for what it was, a great game second half performance by Pierce that won the game for you guys. Unless of course you really believe his claim that "God just sent this angel down and said, 'Hey, you're going to be all right. You need to get back out there and show them what you've got.'"
