The man has been sounding a little cocky lately.

As far as Saunders goes, I'd like to see what he would do with our offense. He opened the Pistons up a lot and they collected 64 (I think) wins with one of the better offenses in the league.

I'd also like to see what he could do with our offense. I think people assume D'Antoni could come in here and make us the Suns east despite Nash probably being the reason their offense looked so good.

Flip's offenses have always been good and his teams have always took care of the ball(a problem with the Hawks)even when he had a different point guard every year in Minnesota. The Pistons offense with Flip finished 4th,6th,and 6th as opposed to finishing 15th,18th,and 17th in the 3 previous years with Brown/Carlisle. Even before the Sprewell/Cassell trade(when they actually had a talented team),the team was always good on offense despite just having KG/Wally and 3 other random players every year.

He is a top 10 coach in the league. The reason's I've heard on the Pistons board as to why he are a bad coach are a joke to me. I think some coaches are just a product of having very talented rosters and playing very tight rotations with very good point guards(Byron Scott and D'Antoni for example)...Flip certainly doesn't fit that description as he won 45-50 games a year with a garbage Minnesota team and found a way to have a very good bench of unproven players (Stuckey/ Maxiell/Johnson/ Afflalo)with an elite team. He also raised Billups game in both Minnesota and Detroit. I don't understand how anyone can think this guy is a bad coach. He won 51 games with a Troy Hudson/Kendall Gill backcourt...not many coaches can do that. If I were the Bulls(or Hawks but our owners are inept) I'd sign him ASAP.

Anything is an upgrade against Woodson, Flip has always been blessed with talent around him so you cant exactly say that he has built a team from that lower level.

I would not consider his Minnesota teams pre-2004 talented teams. Hudson/Gill/Wally/KG/Rasho is not a team that should win 51 games unless they have a good coach. Look at 2006 and 2007...those teams had equal talent(w/ the exception of Rasho being a good defender)to the 2003 team that won 51 games but only won 30-35 games. Mchale has always been a horrible GM but the two things he has gotten right since taking over are drafting KG and hiring Flip as coach. There is direct statistical evidence that Flip's offensive system makes teams much better.

They had Cassell and Sprewell the year they won 51. Thats a big three by itself.
