Two trades to build the new Hawks.

ATL / NY

Smoove

for

Curry / Lee / *#6

ATL / MEM

Bibby / Zaza / 2009 second / 2010 first

for

M Miller / Cardinal / Crittenton

* NY drafts Mayo or Lopez and sends them to Hawks

Sign: David Andersen

New Hawks:

Curry / Andersen

Horford / Lee / Jones

JJ / Marvin / Richardson

Miller / Chil / Mario W.

Law / Crit

Add Mayo or Lopez or even Joran and it looks pretty good.

you realize that this essentially replaces our best defender with one of the worst in the league, right?

Anything involving Eddy Curry is a terrible, terrible trade. And Mayo won't be available by #6.

The 2nd trade is decent but I'd probably reject that also.

1st one is extremely unrealistic because not only will you have to take on Curry...you will also have to pay David Lee who's agent reportedly wanted $13 million a year for an extension(he is w/o question the 'fan favorite" of the Knicks). I don't want to pay over $20 million for Lee and Curry.

How long is Cardinal's contract? I'm not sure if we can afford Miller and Cardinal but Bibby/Zaza/1st for Miller/Critt is extremely lopsided IMO.

He makes about 6.5 million a year over the next 2. That's actually not that bad after second thought, I probably would do the second deal. I was thinking his contract was a lot longer.

Lee's not gonna get $13M a year. Hate to loose Josh, but if Curry balls, we go to the top of the East.

^ Curry won't ball because he doesn't try. He is the worst defender in the NBA. He is pound for pound the worst rebounder in the NBA.

He flat out doesn't care or try and is never in shape. He's a black hole on offense and a turnover machine. He played 36 minutes per in 06-07 and averaged a career high 0.8 assists.

He flat out sucks.

He also shot 55% and could put up 16/7 in less than thirty minutes.

Eddy Curry is "pound for pound" the worst in the NBA at almost everything he does. I know the Knicks won't keep him, but it would be great entertainment to see him try to run the floor in Dantoni's offense.

Curry is a worse defender and rebounder than Zaza. The Hawks are not in a position to waste $10 million a year on a player like Eddy Curry. He actually had the worst/plus minus of any rotation player in the league.

People need to remember that the Hawks were 15-12 at beginning of January last year....which is the equivalent of 45 wins throughout the season(4th seed in the East). The two biggest reasons why we had that record back then were because Marvin was playing very well(shooting over 50% from the floor)and the defense was ranked 6th or 7th in the league. In January, Marvin fell back down to Earth(as well as AJ), and the defense got much worse(even before Bibby). The Hawks should be targeting a defensive center(just about all the top defensive teams have one) and/or a scorer like Redd/Miller/Howard to give us a real second option. A player like Curry is not going to help the Hawks.

Why would we trade Josh Smith after his performance in the playoffs? Especially for someone like Eddy Curry... Josh deserves a spot on the Hawks roster for another 4-6 years. He hasn't even reached his peak. I think Eddy Curry has definitely reached his peak... and there is no way that the Knicks would ever trade David Lee. A player like Eddy Curry would only send the Hawks back in the lotto.

Zaza is better than Curry.

I didn't say he has more talent; I didn't say he had more potential; I didn't say he can do any drill better than Curry.

I said he's better. I'm saying that, if you could put each into a starting role for us for a season, Zaza would give us more. Curry is a negative.

That said, when Curry's contract is on it's last year, he might be a good gamble. I suspect he'll pull a Dampier for one year.

Eddy Curry is maybe the most untradable player in the league. I think it would be a GREAT idea to bring him in.

Unless Curry explodes for 30+, just about anything he gives you on offense is wiped out by his defense and rebounding. Lazy and stupid isn't a good combination.

I really dislike Curry's lack of rebounding and defense. Also you are overpaying for Miller/Cardinal/Crittenton. Taking Cardinal's 2yr of contract should alleviate the 1st round pick in the deal at least.
