seriously, i can't believe some la fans are griping about the legitimacy of the injury. i just saw bill plaschke on espn talking about it and he said pierce had to be carried out by 8 people described by plashke as 'pallbearers', while the video replay show only two carrying him. and then he offered the explanation of pierce doing it cause kobe 'faked him to the ground' and pierce was embarrassed and again replay show pierce was knocked over by perkins jumping into him.

I seriously couldn't believe the acting we all witnessed ....... I don't know about some of you, but it's just a testiment to how boring the series shaped up after Game 1. I can only hope the pace picks up and the guys show a bit more of a competitive edge. The NBA is doing all it can to draw parallels to an old rivalry supposedly "reborn" ........but I just don't see it. And can we please stop with the Russell-Garnett love-making? Garnett's not even a true Celtic - he's a rental.
I'm not trying to take anything away from the Lakers or Celtics - both did their jobs and got to the finals .......albeit when top notch talent came to the rescue ......... but Game 1 left a lot to be desired as far as overall NBA Finals appeal.

Man that's just the way Plaschke writes, he's sarcastic he does it to drive home his points. You don't get it. Everybody knows what really happened he's just attacking Paul basically. Don't try to make like just because Plaschke writes for the L.A. Times, that it was the way all of L.A. saw it.streetp0et wrote:seriously, i can't believe some la fans are griping about the legitimacy of the injury. i just saw bill plaschke on espn talking about it and he said pierce had to be carried out by 8 people described by plashke as 'pallbearers', while the video replay show only two carrying him. and then he offered the explanation of pierce doing it cause kobe 'faked him to the ground' and pierce was embarrassed and again replay show pierce was knocked over by perkins jumping into him.

Again, why do you care and what difference does it make to you the way he acted when he got hurt?
How do you know FOR SURE he wasn't in pain?
How do you know FOR SURE he didn't get hurt?
What's being overblown and exaggerated are responses like yours and the others here reacting in a silly way to someone getting hurt.
What do you have so personal against someone saying that the injury was overblown?
Why do i care? its game 1 of the finals, people care.
I dont know whether or not he was in pain or not. But i saw him run back on the floor minutes later after getting carried off. Im not being silly at all I saw what i saw. No big deal here. Just way overblown.

did i say that? i'm sure i stated "some la fans" and proceeded to use him as an example of one. and that was not from an article, it was an interview.
and i agree with frosty, happened a handful of times from when i played pickup ball.

Ratings for Game 1 of NBA Finals highest since 2004
Associated Press
NEW YORK -- The Lakers-Celtics matchup gave the NBA Finals' television ratings a big boost.
Game 1 on Thursday averaged an 8.7 rating on ABC, the network said Friday. That's up 38 percent from the 6.3 during last year's Cavaliers-Spurs series.
It's the highest Game 1 rating since Lakers-Pistons in 2004 drew a 9.8.
The rating is the percentage watching a program among homes with televisions.

Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:
"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

Let me give some of you Celtic fans a Playoffs 101 lesson since you're not used to having your squad run this deep in the playoffs...
In the playoffs, the homecourt advantage is huge, especially the further in the playoffs you go. That is why you always hear that the playoffs don't start until either 1) the road team wins, or 2) Game 7. If the Lakers would've won game 1, the finals would've started hella early for the Celtics. If the Lakers win tomorrow, then the playoffs really start in Game 3, because homecourt is shifted to L.A. until Boston wins a road game. If the Celtics win tomorrow and the Lakers win all 3 games in LA, guess what, even then, game 6 would look good for the Celtics in Boston, with game 7 being the real test, where things could go either way.
Basically, your squad did what they had to do. If the Lakers get a split, that is big advantage. If they lose, then they're in a hole, but they're not on the ropes until Boston wins on their court.
By now, some of you Celtic fans probably should've caught on to that since your mighty team couldn't get a road victory until in the ECFs against a team who you matched better against (and not to mention Billups wasn't even close to 100%). But again, it's been a while for you guys so I'll let it go.

Oh come on that's a little over the top isn't it. Fact of the matter is that there were too many people in the previous thread saying that the Lakers were this big favorites and that the series would not last more than 5 games and now Celtics fan are fighting back. Wether you like it or not, being up 1-0 is an advantage and it does put the Lakers against the wall somewhat. Until the Lakers win in Boston, Boston doesn't have to worry about winning in LA. That is why the regular season matters.
And don't try to play the injury card with the Pistons as the Spurs also had the same thing with Ginobili. Both teams are in the finals because they won 12 playoff games that's the only thing that matters now. Bring game 2 on.

The talk about Pierce's injury is so silly. Yeah, if Paul had put some weight on his right leg when he was on the court, he probably would have realized he could walk into the locker room. But, he was scared
(because he heard something 'pop') and was in a lot of pain. If he knew then what he knows now, he would probably NOT have been carried off. In fact he said as much.
And, of course the media overexaggerated everything! That's what they do! Especially during the Finals.

Which the trainers made him use. The sideline reporter was saying that Pierce wanted to test it but the trainers didn't want to let him. Can't blame Pierce for the trainers being overprotective though if I were the trainer and I'm told he heard a pop I would have done the same thing.
