Top teams after playoffs

Post#1 » by rewill17 » Sat Jun 7, 2008 2:23 am

Rank the 8 playoff teams in each conference based on playoff performance and create an adjusted standings on how those teams "actually" finished. The point of this is to compare how actual regular season standings relate to playoff performance...

My first guess:

West: (not much change)

1. LA Lakers (-)
2. SA Spurs (+1)
3. New Orleans (-1)
4. Utah Jazz (-)
5. Houston(-)
6. Phoenix (-)
7. Dallas (-)
8. Denver (-)

East:

1. Boston (-)
2. Cleveland (+2)
3. Detroit (-1)
4. Atlanta (+4)
5. Orlando (-2)
6. Philadelphia (+1)
7. Washington (-2)
8. Toronto (-2)

I am open to criticism!

I'd put orlando over atlanta and put phoenix over houston and maybe even utah, but a good list otherwise

Although I think that the Cavs would have been a darn tough out for the Pistons, I don't think you can move them up over them. The regular season has to count for something.

Playoffs are a whole new season. This ranking bases more on playoff performances, in which teams like the 2006-07 Dallas Mavericks who had the 1st seed with 67 victories would definitely rank around 8th in that list (maybe 7th if you think the Nuggets or the Lakers played worse).

I think the Cavs played much better against tougher teams than Detroit did, especially at home.
