Yeah, and the ratings havent been that good since kobe was in the finals. Must of been that shaq/ben wallace match up back then that drew ratings.

Which the trainers made him use. The sideline reporter was saying that Pierce wanted to test it but the trainers didn't want to let him. Can't blame Pierce for the trainers being overprotective though if I were the trainer and I'm told he heard a pop I would have done the same thing.

Fair enough.

So lets all agree that the " Hero" or " Willis Reed" move was overblown and now we can focus on game 2.

Game 2 is going to be huge. I think Lakers can steal this one. Last game they just weren't intense enough, and it looked like some of them (Pau, Odom) had jitters.

Yea its the Lakers. They are the biggest draw in the NBA and every band wagoners and casual fans favorite team. Good to see the ratings up but I was actually anticipating it being around where that 04 series was..about the 10 mark. To me shows that the Lakers help but the league still has quite a ways to go and it needs more than the Lakers and Kobe and more than the Celtics.

Is anyone else as mad as me with the long breaks. First we had to wait a week for game one now this wait for game 2. Couldn't they have scheduled it a lil tighther, specially during when there is no travel involved between games. Going to drive us impatient fans through the roof.

Actually that fares better for the Celtics and their fans because it gives Pierce some rest time.

Games 3, 4 and 5 are going to be huge. I think Celtics can steal two.

What exactly is your point?

See....faker lovers will say boston is supposed to win gm 1, boston is supposed to win gm 2. they're supposed to protect homecourt/take care of business. OTOH, if la "steals" one, its: series over. when boston goes up 2-0 and fakers win gm 3, faker fans will never say "we're supposed to win gm 3", instead it'll be whoopin n hollerin *rolls eyes*

Isn't that an intensity issue? The only one with a truly discernable weight/strength advantage is Perkins, and dude was a non-factor.

I know it helps the Celtics but I still want game to get here as quickly as possible. :)

Lakers need to win in Boston, and doing it in the 1st 2 games is a lot easier than doing it later. As the series continues Boston will figure out the LA offense a lot more and those pick and rolls between Gasol and Kobe won't be there. So game 2 is a must win game for LA.

I can't believe there is actual talk relative to Pierce faking that injury. It just doesn't have credibility.

a lot of people don't have credibility and too much time on their hands. it shouldn't be too suprising that people always look to the lowest basis for a story.

What's funny about Boston fans is that the consensus on their board was that Rip Hamilton was faking a shoulder injury in the prior series, now according to them the talk of Peirce faking and injury is the most ridiculous thing ever.

I don't think PP was faking and injury, but he exaggerated it to the nth degree. It was just funny, the guy had to be carried off the court and then comes back bouncing around like Muhammad Ali?

My guess is that PP got caught up in the moment of spotlight that is the NBA Finals and decided to milk it for all it's worth.

He was looking for a Willis Reed moment, but anyone who is familiar with what Reed did will only chuckle at PP's miraculous recovery.

And this years Academy Award for best male performance goes to...

I don't really think he exaggerated it. When you sprain your knee badly(I've done it before, mine was probably worse though) you are in a ton of pain and you don't know what's wrong with it exactly. The guy said he was embarrassed they carried him off, but come on. If you are the Celtics, your star player injures his knee, his teammates and the management aren't going to want the guy walking on it right after he injures it until they atleast know what's wrong. It hurts a lot if you have a bad sprain. The guy might've had a cortizone shot or something too, you never know. So all this talk of him exagerated and faking is ridiculous, he didn't exagerate anything. He was on the floor and scared because when you injure it, the pain at first is pretty damn bad but it lessens if it's not really bad. His teammate/team management didn't want to take any chances so they didn't want him walking on it, it was HIM in the lockerroom or whatever that said something to the effect of "hey let me walk on it, it doesn't hurt quite as bad anymore".

Also cracks me up how when KG was on the TWolves, a bad team, everybody and their dog said how they wanted to see him win, and they feel so badly for such an intense player to go through all that losing, and how he deserves a ring, etc. But now that he has a chance at one half of those people are rooting against him and saying how he is "so damn annoying with his chest pounding and talking and chalk throwing and he is such a fake" just because he's playing America's favorite team in the Lakers and America's hero Kobe. It's pretty ridiculous actually, IMO.

I still want to see him win, and most people are fakes/have no idea what they're talking about when it comes to injuries. THINK ABOUT IT PEOPLE. If you are Boston's management, you really want your star player walking around on a knee he just injured when you don't even know what exactly is wrong inside there? That is just ridiculously ignorant.

edit: Oh and I honestly feel like it's an insult to my intelligence when someone says PAUL PIERCE, the guy who was back ballin just a couple days after he was stabbed 20 something times, faked/exaggerated an injury and/or that he has a low pain tolerance. NBA "fans" are pathetic. Supposedly like to watch and admire these guys, then when they get a legit injury and respond to it you people think they are faking or have low pain tolerance level? Do you people honestly think they would've made it to the NBA if they did that? Anyone who thinks he was faking/exagerating it is insane.

Kobe might have more ratings than LeBron but aren't you underestimating the great and historic rivalry between the Celtics and the Lakers. You know maybe people are watching it because this is one of the greatest rivalries in the world sports history.
