Lakers need to win in Boston, and doing it in the 1st 2 games is a lot easier than doing it later. As the series continues Boston will figure out the LA offense a lot more and those pick and rolls between Gasol and Kobe won't be there. So game 2 is a must win game for LA.

Game 2 is going to be huge. I think Lakers can steal this one. Last game they just weren't intense enough, and it looked like some of them (Pau, Odom) had jitters.

The Celtics did a good job of clogging the lane. The rest of the team minus Fisher was visibly undecisive, so he took contested jumpers. What do you expect him to do, take 5-step spin moves into the lane and draw phantom fouls?

Exactly.

That was one of my questions coming in, I know the Celtics were inexperienced for the finals, but they still have a lot of passionate hungry vets, for La, they have Kobe, Fisher, and Turiaf, but other than those guys, who else is going to come out with intensity? Pau and Odom are great players, but they aren't the toughest mentally or physically, and the rest of the Laker bench were thought of as mentally weak players until their recent runs.

La has a more talented bench, point blank, but they don't have tremendous size, and are they going to outscrap the Boston bench?

It's a shame that the only 2 guys on La with a championship played like they actually want one...

So, Pierce is a wuss for you? The guy was stabbed 11 times in 2000 and three days later he walked out of the hospital on his own and played in all 82 games that year. He is one of the toughest players in the league.

Yeah, and the ratings havent been that good since kobe was in the finals. Must of been that shaq/ben wallace match up back then that drew ratings.

LOL There are many factors that play a part in the ratings. Kobe wasn't even the biggest star on that team;that would be Shaq. Having 2 hall of famers play for their first ring certainly added drama to it. The Celtics, Lakers, and Knicks are the big 3 that can draw the most ratings, but they need superstars. If the Celtics had defeated the Nets several years ago and played the Lakers, it likely would not have been a big draw. The Celtics did not have a superstar and likely would have been beat badly. The Celtics did win both regular season games vs. LA so an upset could have happened, but it's not likely. The ratings tend to go down every year and along with the ref scandal possibly turning many viewers away, it's safe to say the Championship would bring in more viewers than the 2004 one did if it was in 2004 instead of 2008. The Pistons are a popular team so I'm not too surprised. I'm not sure if you're being serious, but it's a lot more than just Kobe.

Paul Pierce is not Willis Reed, but Paul Pierce is injured and probably will be for the rest of the series, putting his team at a disadvantage. It is a serious injury in that respect. Boston fans did seriously fear he wasn't going to play for the rest of the year, so his return to the court was a big deal. Should the medical staff have handled it differently? Maybe, but you don't want a guy you're paying 20M/yr. damaging his leg by standing up on it at the wrong time, so their actions are understandable.

Finally, wasn't that 4 point bank-shot play awesome?
