Where does Phil Jackson get off questioning the severity of Pierce's injury? What an ass! Also, I love Garnett's response to him.

Anyone else despise the way Phil Jackson's acted during the Finals? Not just this, his arrogance makes me hate him personally (I only truly respect humble people).
Who could actually root for this guy to break Reds record besides LAL fans?

Believe it or not... SAS was right on.
This morning SAS, was saying that yes pierce embellished a bit, and pierce did admit it. But people have to get off his case! This is his first finals, and he thought it was all over just like that when he hurt his knee. Media getting all over him is ridiculous.
As for Phil, that is not a smart thing to say. He is not Dr. Phil. He is a coach, a good coach, but just a coach. He knows better then to call out a player on another team. I can't wait till pierce lights it up in LA.

yea I'm sure in the heat of the game Pierce thought hmmm we're down 5. I'll fake a serious injury and then come back and inspire the team.
What a load of nonsense. Where does Phil Jackson get off making such a boneheaded statement. He doesnt know what Pierce was feeling. To make light of his ability to play through pain is just pathetic bad sportsmanship.

This whole thing has life because of the Pierce ball-washers.
Pierce overreacted, or maybe he allowed the medical staff to overreact, not insisting that he was OK right away, some people pointed it out (the L.A. crowd embellishing what Pierce actually did, turning into outright fakery, but lots of garden-variety Boston fans seeing an overreaction nonetheless), but it should have died right there. Truly not a big deal.
But no, here come the ball-washers, waving their arms to try to convince everybody that what they saw was not what they actually saw.
"Are you a doctor?" they ask.
Er, no, but didn't he get looked at by a couple of doctors who immediately determined that it was nothing, no further testing necessary?
"no structural damage" = technical term for "it's a boo-boo"
I hope this helps.

Who cares what Phil says? It has nothing to do with anything.
If we are going to get our panties in a wad over everything Phil says, we are going to be in for a long series because he always makes snide comments and remarks.
Phil is the enemy, expect him to say **** upped things.

Yeah, Its all us Pierce ball washers. It's the **** medical staffs job to overreact. Because they want to make sure they dont cause any further injury. Its not rocket science.\
Imagine if a guy falls akwardly and falls or hits his head causing him to be knocked out. 9 times out of 10 they are going to come out and put him on a stretcher. Then stabalize his neck. He might not have a neck injury but they do it to be careful. Thats the same thing when they took him out the other night.
You are a Pierce Hater plain and simple. It must suck that he has proven you wrong.

Oh, come on, how can you call anyone a ball-washer when you have been blowing Rondo, Delonte West, and Gerald Green harder than anybody on this board?
Just because you get a hard-on for other players, don't get mad when other fans do the same.

If we are Pierce ba**-washers, WTF does that make the national media and their love affair with the Fakers? A 2 week (fill in the blank)?!
....thought about..... got a visual.....
.... not pretty.....
....disgusting.
Oooopps... here comes SAS.
"Hey Stephen, what's up with the kneepads?"
Figured I would edit it, in case there are youngsters in here.

Huh? They said on the broadcast the doctor's explicitly asked Pierce not to put any weight on the injury, including once they got to the trainers room when they asked him not to stand on it hence the carrying off the court and the wheel chair. He did anyway. Then I'm sure they did the ant and post drawer sign as well as valgus and varus test and a few other tests to test the stability after which they probably let him back on the court. What they determined was that it was structurally stable not "that it was nothing". Unless they do imaging they won't know whether there is structural damage.
I have been appalled by the unprofessional behavior of the media over this. Its not their job to pretend they know anything about medicine or to speculate about the injury.

If I may I'd like to give my perspective on the subject, while my thoughts only represent me I will say that not all of L.A. fans felt Paul faked his injury. He was truly injured no doubt about that.Rondo_Fan wrote:This whole thing has life because of the Pierce ball-washers.

Thats why I put one line of your quote in bold. Unless you read our board, not saying you did or didn't the board only represents a small portion of reality. And as you know most people just bandwagon along with what the media starts.
I do agree there was no way in knowing how severe Paul was hurt, so to me the wheel chair was actually a smart idea really I don't know why every team doesn't practice that.
I think the only reason the situation comes into play is because of two factors. One being how Paul's return was viewed by the media which in turn led to the Reed references. Which was started by non other then (ABC/ESPN).
The last being that it led to Coach Jackson being ask to compare it to Reed which in my opinion was the wrong person to ask seeing that he played with Reed so obviously his view was going to be different.
And I agree it should have died right there but the media is the blame more so than Paul.
Bottom line is that athletes are smart they know how to play to the crowd. If anything that's the only thing Paul did was parlayed the moment to his teammates and the home crowd. Being in L.A. even I felt the energy of that moment. [/b]

Phil shouldnt ever criticize the refs because the refs were the main reason why they beat the Jazz.

All of your guys' theories sound great, except for one inconvenient fact:
NOTHING HAPPENED
"Imagine if someone got a concussion..."
"Imagine if someone got their leg cut off at the knee..."
"Imagine if a light stanchion fell from the Fleet Center roof and beaned Pierce..."
Well, there are lots of things that I can imagine. BUT NONE OF THEM HAPPENED.
Pierce got your basic, kindergarden variety boo-boo. The kind your mom used to kiss and then rub for about ten seconds until it felt better.
So maybe the media shouldn't make fun of Pierce, I'll grant you that.
But we definitely shouldn't be hearing the word "heroic" thrown around as much as we have.
I mean, give me a break.
And for God's sake, have a sense of humor.
I've heard people laughing about it on Boston talk radio the past couple of days, including the hosts, and I know that all of those guys are Celtic fans and are going to root for Paul Pierce on Sunday night. So people are kidding around a bit at Pierce's expense. Get over it.
