i hope you get a knee injury. then you can show us how much harder you are than paul pierce.

oh and just reminding you of kobe's 9-26 shooting effort. LOL. enjoy your game 2 beating, scrub.

9-26 shooting but it had nothing to do with the so called great d the Celtics had, he had a ton of shots rattle in and out. he'll be ready for game 2. but if we're down by 5 or more by half next game i bet you won't see any laker fans saying the games over and we're not a championship team like your sorry ass fans did thursday

Next thing I'm going to read from a Laker fan is that the so called great Celtics team had nothing to do with actually winning the game. Your reasoning is about as sound as TonyMontana's grammar/spelling ability.

It felt more like a hard fought victory to me, our defense put the clamps on in the 4th and Lakers didn't do themselves any favors shooting down the stretch, but it was neck and neck until then. This is going to be the best finals in years, IMO, as much as I don't like the Lakers and just plain can't stand Kobe, they played a good game overall.

One of the more common sense posts on this board.....

The lakers had leads in this game.....to be honest it looked like the celtics might be in trouble but PP went out of the game and the lakers seemed to relax....then PP came back and hit those two consecutive threes.....

Kudo's to PP and to the celtics for coming back to win it....but lets be honest. That was NOT a comfortable win by the celts and it could have EASILY gone the other way......a lot of Kobe's shots when down and bounced out. The celtics are much better on defense then I expected though and I will admit that.

A lot of Kobe's shots didn't fall, but when you are constantly shooting from 15+ feet out, that's not conducive to a high FG%. Kobe is at his best living in the paint and then stretching the D after with jumpers. If he settles for jumpers, he can still shoot at a solid % (like his 28 point, 9-21 game vs. BOS), but he is also likely to have clunkers more often (like the other two games he's played Boston). When you settle for jumpers and you are a bit of a streaky shooter, you will get in trouble.

More than anything, Kobe needs his teammates to get more assertive and attack the paint. If they do, the C's might get into foul trouble and make life easier for #24. If they can't, Boston will continue to seal off Kobe from the lane and dare other guys to take it inside.

Kobe will go off a couple of times in this series, but if the Cs dare him to settle for contested jumpers, it will be a lot harder for him to dominate and get his teammates involved. When he drives he not only draws fouls & gets points, he kicks out and gives easy looks. When he shoots jumpers, he might score, but he gets no fouls and he doesn't involve the other 4 guys.

There are only 3 championship caliber players on the Lakers right now: Kobe, Turiaf and Fisher. They are the only 3 capable of playing with any stones right now. Unfortunately, Fisher is overmatched by the speed of Rondo, Turiaf is an end of the bench type role player and Kobe can't carry a team to the promised land without a tougher team - he is no Lebron James after all and relies on speed, fakes and superior skill to get his points..... he isn't rolling over this Celtic defense the way Lebron did.

This team got 10 foul shots because:
1. Home cooking is real in the NBA
2. They don't take charges
3. They don't suck it up and try to power over people.
4. 3/4 of their roster only want to shoot if they have uncontested 3 pointers.

I rewatched the game after all the whining and it is clear why the Celtics went to the line 34 times and why Powe got more shots than the whole Laker squad. It is because the Lakers played like this was an All Star game rather than the finals. I guess they don't show the Rambis foul on LA television because this Laker team plays as if they are supposed to get foul calls if anyone comes within 3 feet of them.

Having watched the Celtics get abused by officiating in Atlanta and Cleveland even when they were playing physical basketball I have no sympathy for the Lakers and their fans. Yes, NBA officiating can suck. But the Lakers deserved 10 free throws and I think 4 of them were given as charity. Like when Powe stripped Derek Fisher of the ball and the officials were so embarrassed for him that they gave him a mercy foul.

If the Lakers can shoot 77% from 3 point land in LA then they may have a chance in this series playing like pansies. Since that 4th quarter display will probably only happen if the Celtics lie down again I propose that their players strap 'em on and show up next game.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Well Lakers are mostly a finesse team. If Bynum returns, things could be a little different since he's 280 lbs and uses his strength to dominate down low unlike the Lakers other bigs like Gasol who settles for jump shots

Return to Boston Celtics
