Draft Poll: Pick #4 SEA/OKC Sonics

Post#1 » by tk76 » Sun Jun 8, 2008 2:27 pm

Recap:
#1 Rose: Bulls
#2 Beasley: Heat
#3 Mayo: T-Wolves

Vote for who you would take if you ran the Sonics.

If you vote other post who you would pick.

With Durant and Green they are already overloaded at SF- unless you see Durant as a career SG? Also, Wilcox will be due for a new (big) contract next year. Is he their future at PF?

BTW OKC goes with Supersonics like Memphis goes with Grizzlies.

I can see the Sonics trading this pick. If they see their core as Durant/Green/Wilcox, I don't see a good fit at PG or Center worthy of a top 4 pick. Since Wilcox doesn't block shots, you need a better intimidator than Lopez to pair with Wilcox in the frontcourt. On the same tolen, I don't see Bayless as the "PG" to run an offense through Durant and Green.

So I guess people see Bayless as being an effective PG?

Lopez...he's not a superstar in the waiting, but he's a very solid 7'er to pair with Durant/Green/Wilcox. How many 7' centers enter the league shooting 79% from the line? He'll be very solid for the next decade. The Sonics have 5 more picks on draft night to get swing players and PG prospects.

All of the mocks have them taking Bayless, but I'll go with Lopez. They have drafted a buch of crappy centers in the past, but at this point Lopez is a safe pick that fills a real need and is the best pick with no true PG worthy of this pick available.
