They could add one ref at a table who monitors the replay and can make the proper calls.

or stern could just admit his refs to gamble and cheat and it all be solved instead of trying to hide it

i've been saying the exact same thing. Why not use the replays to make the game much more fair?

The league would probably say it would slow the game way too much and the officials are good enough to get the calls right the majority of the time.

I was thinking you were going to suggest some kind of Stalin era purges, maybe make an example of a few refs opening night next season.

I think it would have to be TWO referees to make it more fair to make sure they both agree that the call is what it is instead of having one ref decide it himself. But yeah its a great idea, but the replay ref should only be able to change a few calls, every call would be obsurd and show how bad the on court refs really are. A "challenge" to the call sounds like a good idea like in football where each team is allowed to challenge a play each half except their is no punishment. I dont thin kit would add much time to the game because usually refs do take a while to call a difficult play anyways. One problem is finding that many extra referees to be the monitor officials.

The refs overall are pretty solid, the only thing I dislike is when a ref with a worse view calls a foul when the ref with a perfect view does not.

no replay please, if you think late game timeout are disturbing, think about late game 5+ stop just to check the replay.

I would assume there would be a limit on challenges with possibility early on in the game to lose a timeout as punishment for the call not being changed.

They should award each team two challenges per quarter, or 8 total.
If you challenge a call and are correct, you get another.
If you don't challenge a call, then stay quiet.
This would cut down on players bitching to the referees. If a call was so blatantly erroneous than that player's coach would back him up and *throw the flag*. If the team ran out of challenges, then they have nothing to say because they'd been wrong 8 times.

Exactly, there would be a limit to the challenges. If they challenge so many times and are wrong they could lose a timeout, like someone already said and/or the other team gets the ball out of bounds.

the league wouldn't have any ground to stand on, what with how long the commercials have been in the playoffs

They check replay for the most obvious plays. It's ridiculous to check end of quarter plays when the player clearly got the shot off. They still review it even when the ball is in mid-air when the red light comes on. They need to better things to do.
