I disagree. There's plenty of ex-NBAers like Marcus Haislip, Jerome Moiso, and Boniface N'Dong, Mario Kasun (and I'm sure some I'm missing) who are tougher than probably 97% of NCAA bigs. Then there are top international players like Vasquez, Splitter, and Reyes are also as physical as anybody in college. There are plenty of former NCAA stars sitting on benches over there. Lou Roe was first team all-American. None of these guys are soft.

Haislip, Moiso, and N'Dong were all average in college. Kasun is a total stiff (sadly, as a Magic fan, I know too well). Marc Gasol is an average big man who is too soft to bang in the NBA. Putting up ok numbers against Mario Kasubn and Jerome Moiso doesn't do anything to change my mind.

He get new shoes or what?

Nothing I've seen of Gasol says he'll be a better defender than Lopez, who at least has the lateral quickness to hedge some on pick n roll. Lopez also runs the floor on both ends, while Gasol is going to be very hard-pressed chasing guys like Biedrins and his brother up and down.

I would actually say Marc Gasol. He has everything needed to be a very solid player. Lopez could be the better player but I am going to go with Gasol.
