Why do nobody want Avery Johnson?

Post#1 » by odb 7777 » Mon Jun 9, 2008 9:09 pm

He showed big interesst after the Bulls got the first pick with Detroits, Suns coaching jobs sill available...

Is he seen as a bad coach or why did no GM want him?

He's a motivator, not a coach.

Why does nobody want Avery Johnson?*

He showed big interest in the Bulls after they got the first pick, with Detroit, and with the Suns when their jobs were still available.*

Him not being able to win with those Mavericks team he had pretty much shows he's not a very good coach.

I really doubt the Pistons will respect Avery because if not Avery will suck. Once he lost the players respect in Dallas he was completely exposed .

Two things that make Avery atleast a serviceable coach

1. He was able to get Dirk to stop playing so much around the perimeter, he made him become a good post up player and drive to the basket alot more than Don "Jack 3's up" Nelson ever told him too.

2. He turned the Mavericks a team known for softness, and crazy owner and made them into a respectable and grind it out team.

It most likely comes down to money and Avery probably wants too much of it for what he's worth. I want to see him Coach a team that's rebuilding instead of a team that's playoff bound.

Maybe he doesn't live in the U.S. and doesn't know how to speak/write English very well? You don't have to be a d*ck about it.

Anyway I think the 2nd poster was right, his voice turns people off... :x

But then you're left without a coach.

Why does he even want another job? Didn't he get rich enough off from his deal with Dallas?

Just retire already and go rub the Admiral's feet for him.

I can't see why Avery Johnson is not getting offers. I really want to play the race card but I'll let it go this time. That Dallas team overachieved to me. He made them into one of the best defensive teams in the NBA with a team Pau Gasols. Mark Cuban is the reason they sucked this year. He made a panic trade and now his team is paying the price. Devin Harris was getting better every year. I hope Dallas becomes a cellar team. Not Avery fault.

Dallas will not owe him more money if signs with another team.
