They only have 2 guys with over 8 yrs experience. Kobe/Fisher. In fact, the average age of the Lakers is YOUNGER than our team. The Mavs only average 1 year older than our team too.
Compare that to the spurs who have 8 guys with over 10 yrs experience.

Big Al is not KG and Green is not the next Tracy McGrady (Rockets fans thought that trade was a steal, man were they ever wrong).

Anyway, I am not comparing Al's individual performance to KG. Really this is more of a discussion of team success.

I believe it when he sustains it. Dan Dickau was great for a year, too.

Also, go back and look at his season stats, they weren't THAT great. They were pretty much identical to Foye's who missed the first 43 games of the year and then had to start working the rust off. Really they're almost scarily similar.

Udrih produced pretty consistently the same all season while Foye got leaps and bounds better each month back from injury, I won't go into all the stats, but I'll highlight some of them and then do a full stat layout for Foye on his last month

THOSE are some nasty numbers in April. Assuming he improves some over the summer we could be looking at 20 ppg, 5-6 apg on 45/40/85 shooting %...I know this isn't a Foye thread, but I mean did KG ever have a player like that who actually stuck around? (besides a ROOKIE Foye).

It may be partly wishful thinking, but I think Al Jefferson will have more team success than KG. Part of that is because the entire core of this team is pretty young. Get 3 or 4 of these guys to produce and you got a nice nucleus for years to come. When KG was coming up, there was really just Marbury and then we all know where that went. I don't forsee a Marbury type situation coming, but some would argue that if they draft Mayo it could happen.

Plus, it kinda depends on what we're talking when you say more success. What if Big Al gets out of the 1st round three times, but misses the playoffs in like of the years in between or something like that? Is that "more successful" than 8 straight playoff appearances?

Well I don't think anyone can deny that Al got us a higher draft pick than KG ever did - score 1 for the new guy!

I think getting back to the main question, it all depends on how you personally determine "success." If "success" means "rings" to you, KG was just as unsuccessful as Troy Hudson. If "success" means personally turning a perrenial laughingstock into a legitimate team that is respected by people here and around the world, then Garnett has been hugely successful. how many international posters do we have on these very boards simply because Garnett was Garnett, and drew them in?

I can't say Al won't be as successful as KG. Al is a tremendous player, and has a decent chance to win championships. However, in my opinion, KG, the greatest player in Timberwolves history, has left some pretty big shoes to fill.
