Ditto with 01Magic01 and I'm going on my 5th year in Gainesville. Never heard of it. Hit me up on AIM (same tag: sportsrock37) and I can try to give you some pointers on living arrangements, etc about Gville.

On the Brightside, even though I do like BrightHouse, Gainesville gets Comcast with FSN Florida on basic tier and NFL Network on a digital Sports pack.

The NFL let Cox put NFL Network on a tier, hopefully they will let Bright Houuse do it here.

It's not a bad complex, sorta close to campus.

When I went to UF I had to deliver there alot as it was my area on many nights.

depends on what youre looking for. you get what you pay for. not exactly the nice side of town and its not exactly social like a gainesville place or estates... i personally wouldnt live there but i mean its all what your after. its close to uf because 16th parallels archer and you can cut through the side roads and hit campus.

All of the cheap appartments in Gainesville are the same for the most part.

The appartments themselves are nice, livable, and worth the money...

But the thing you don't see coming is the GOD AWFUL MANAGEMENT. You will likely not get anything fixed for atleast a few days if it breaks, if at all.

Expect to be treated like a 10th class citizen.

And the reason for the bad management is pretty obvious as well...

Anyone could put up an apt complex in gainesville, or any other big/condensed college campus and have all rooms rented out at any given moment.

The people running the cheap places know that it won't matter at all how they run the place, there are still going to be those students who need a cheap place to live.

goin into my 6th year in Gainesville... all I can say is that the place is a good value... (close to campus, decent size). Not in the nicest area but gets the job done and you save money.

Thanks guys i really appreciate your responses, one of the bad things i found out is they only offer their own internet connection ( you cannot get internet from the local cable company) so apt. complex says they offer inernet with the speed is 1 Mbs down and 256Kbs up and it is shared with everyone. I'm not an expert but ive been told that not good.

is there a site that shows a list of average, good, and best speeds available so i can understand the differences?

also with current speed is 1 Mbs down and 256 kbs up, can i watch live video streams online like nba games/movies with this or is it too slow to function?

Should I think about getting internet from a satellite company instead (recommend anyone?)
