Arenas?

Post#1 » by KM44 » Tue Jun 10, 2008 4:33 am

I know, I know, he's not the typical pg that we are looking for, but man oh man can he play. I really think that he could add a ton of athleticism and open up a lot for martin. We would have to sign and trade, so now here's the question. What could we put together IF we went after arenas. Artest + Shareef? Miller + filler? What could actually happen IF anything happened at all. Thoughts?

We can't do a sign and trade because Arenas wants like 15-20 million a year, can only sign and trade Artest IF he opts out and he wont be getting that much. And I doubt the Wizards want Artest/Miller/Filler. They have Haywood and Butler, if Arenas leaves they would be looking at filling other positions.

Arenas doesn't want to leave Washington, he just wants a new contract. I don't see any reason why Washington would want to part with him either.
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

Well he opted out, so he is going to want a boat load of money that we do not have. And I really dont see us getting a sign and trade done..

I don't know, he has had a lot of knee problems and I don't think with the recent success the Wiz have had without him in the lineup that they should be totally gung ho to re-sign him without the market being set first.

Arenas is basically a 2 in a PG body.

And for what we'd have to pay to get him, there wouldn't be anyone left to put him with.

Yeah he's opting out because he wants a contract that is bigger than he is worth.

He'd be the perfect PG for the type of players Petrie brings in. IMO he would be the perfect compliment to a passing big man. I'd consider us long shots to get him though. He already plays in a Princeton style offense so I think he would be a good fit here.

With that being said we aren't signing him unless Washington dumps him.
