Detroit is better than Lakers

Post#1 » by nightstarstolen » Tue Jun 10, 2008 2:05 pm

Defense wins championships in any sport. Period! Nothing else anyone will say can counter that point.

Celtics, are the best defensive team in Nba, followed by Detroit. Spurs are simply to old, and Ginobli was injured.

Celtics record: 25-5 vs West
Detroit record: 22-8 vs West

Having played both Lakers and Detroit i can say as a certainty that Detroit was the tougher opponent. Do not be surprised if Celtics take 1-2 games in LA.

BTW.. East plays a more defensive oriented game while West plays more high scoring games. The regular season winning stats will be inflated. However, in playoffs i will take Cleveland over everyone in West, except Lakers, and New Orleans.

Isn't it early to say this? You haven't played in LA yet.

I've been wondering myself, should Dumars break up the Pistons if the Celtics do something shocking and sweep the Lakers?

The Celtics didn't have their act together in the first two rounds, so you can't truly judge how good they were from those series. Detroit, should have taken the Celtics to 7 games, and in my mind was the toughest opponent they faced in the East, having beaten them in Boston.

If the Celtics manage to somehow expose a weakness in the Lakers game, and it become evident that Detroit was the second best team in the League this year, do you still break up the Pistons? Despite not making it to the finals again this year, they can still be championship contenders next season (perhaps 10 to 25% odds of winning it all?).

And so are the Suns, apparently.

any playoff team in the west is better than any in the east who are not the celtics.

pistons are over rated, in a weak east they cannot even make the finals any year... last year lebron, now the celtics in only his first year...

Detroit is NOT overrated. Lebron is very dangerous and I'm going to be worried when he actually gets a team worth a damn around him.

no you guys really don't get it!!

EAST IS DEFENSIVE ORIENTED..

WEST SCORES at higher rate.

In regular season West has teams like Nuggets with 55 wins. But in a 7 game series against Atlanta, i will pick Atlanta 9 out of 10 times.

The West superiority is a myth, and Detroit and Cleveland both presented much more challenges than Lakers, "SO FAR", even though Lakers stampeded past Nugs, Jazz, Spurs.

The Lakers would win in a 7 game series.

The Pistons have been a second-tier team ever since Larry Brown left. In fact, with Big Ben leaving two years ago and Sheed's significant decline, they're teetering on the verge of becoming a third-tier team.

You know what team has the SECOND best defense in the NBA?

The Houston Rockets

In a 7 game series(all teams healthy) I would take the Rockets over the Pistons 9 out of 10 times.
