Adonal Foyle to become free agent!!!!!!!!

Orlando Magic center Adonal Foyle, who served as the backup to Dwight Howard last season, is expected to exercise an option later this week to become an unrestricted free agent.

Foyle, 33, would be leaving behind the $1.26 million that the Magic would have paid him next season under the original two-year contract he signed on Aug. 24, 2007.

His opt-out and probable departure -- which is a mild surprise -- would add to the Magic's summertime list of things to accomplish, further emphasizing the need to strengthen their frontcourt around Howard with more defense and rebounding.

Foyle, who didn't immediately return phone messages left for him at his home in California, must notifify the Magic by June 15 if he wants to opt out.

I like Foyle as a person, he is great but i loathe the player as i have made it known several times on this board. I wouldnt mind having him as a 3rd stringer but he may believe that he is above that (lunatic if thats the case). Im just glad that he wont be playing for us with his stone hands, no athletecism and ball hog mentality. And I lost some respect for him when he openly pouted about being benched in the Tor series when it was painfully obvious that he was unusable in that series. Gortat will easily replace his production.

Nice guy, not so good a player.

I remember many folks thinking he'd come in here and be a 8-6, or a 6-6 guy.

Not too realistic.

Good luck Adonal

So as of now our bigs are:

Dwight
Tony Battie
Marcin Gortat
Brian Cook

We probably will definitely need 1 more body just in case of injury if Shard is the starting PF. If Shard is going to start at SF, then we desperately need 2 more big guys.

I work in the building that he lives/lived and have had several conversations with him. He is an incredibly nice guy, and while the topic of his contract and possibility to opt out never came up, it was clear to me that he would opt out. He absolutely loves California, and he isn't into the "live rich" lifestyle, so the extra money wan't really an issue. Im sure he has no ill feeling towards the Magic. He just wanted to get back with his friends in Cali

oh ok thanks man for the info, glad to hear he's not upset over lack of PT, i remember there was a article awhile back saying he might opt out or something b/c of it...foyle has always been a class act and one of the most intelligent individuals in the NBA...he will definitely be heard from (for good stuff) after he finishes his career...i think he'll go into public service...great guy and was always good for like 2 blks a game w/e he got the time

Wow.

I'm surprised.

I loved him even though I cringed every time he was on court. He's just an awesome guy to be around with.

Now someone get Bogans to opt out his contract!!

I'm serious when I say this. After all the bigs that will be available at 22. I'd rather have Dorsey. Just draft someone like Rush in 1st round, than get a 2nd rounder and draft Dorsey
