If you want to see how much a team values a part-time player you need to look at how they vote to have the playoff shares (Money) handed out.
Rings are paid for by the owner. If the owner wants the guy who cuts his lawn to have a championship ring then he'll get one. Many non-players within an organization will get a championship ring, though it's usually less expensive than the ones the players, coaches, and GM get.
Do The Scrubs Deserve A Ring???

Yeah, so what's your point ??Point forward wrote:-= original quote snipped =-
PJ played strong D and hit clutch baskets in Game 7 vs the Cavs!!
I said they had their moments... That doesn't mean they deserve it...
I'm sorry, but guys that sit out for over half the season, only waiting to see who looks to be the front runner for the title, and decides to sign with them, doesn't deserve to be called a champion IMO...

If PJ didn't come up big in the last 5 min of Game 7, we would have LOST.
No PJ, no NBA Finals for the Celtics. Is there any better argument than that?

That's great that the Celtics needed a late season crutch to get them to the finals, but the man is not a true champion IMO...Point forward wrote:-= original quote snipped =-

It's one thing if a player gets traded to a team at the deadline, but I just don't like the idea of a player coming towards the end of the season just to try and get a ring..
It cheapens the whole deal...
I don't have a problem with players looking to get a ring late in their careers... Payton going to Miami, Finley to San Antonio or even Malone giving it a shot in LA.... That's fine...
But, lets say Reggie Miller comes in and signs a contract in March with the Celtics to go for a title... Even if he contributes in a major way, IMO, that's not a champion.. Same goes with a PJ Brown for me... Nice player, always played hard, but the guy was chilling at home just waiting to see who would be the best team, and he jumped on their coattails....
