Why not Odom on Pierce?
Not for the entire game, but why not try it? Lamar has the strength and size to stay with him and Lamar's length might bother him... He has bothered players like Dirk before...
We can give Turiaf more minutes and let him guard Perkins, who is bigger than Ronny but not really an offensive threat
Keep the regular starters but bring Turiaf in early and maybe Sasha as well
Defensive matchups: starters (after sub)
Rondo - Fisher (Kobe)
Allen - Kobe (Sasha)
Pierce - Rad (Lamar)
KG - Pau
Perkins - Lamar (Turiaf)
Do you guys think it would work? I think it is worth a shot

Why not? Because Pierce would take him off the dribble from the top of the key with ease. Odom lacks the footspeed to stay with him. Then, even if he misses down low, you have Vlad Rad vs. Perk/PJ/Powe, all VASTLY superior rebounders, which would likely lead to 2nd chance points.
No, Odom is going to have to defend KG or Perk for you guys, and honestly he has what it takes to slow KG and bang with Perk. He just hasn't displayed any willingness to mix it up IMO. Like a much younger Perkins, seemingly any foul trouble completely takes him out of his element.

This is what I've been saying for quite some time.
Vlad can't guard Pee-Pee, period. He can't guard anything else either for that matter.
My starting line-up would be a defensive one with lots of fast breaks:
Fisher (Rondo)
Kobe (Allen)
Ariza (KG)
Odom (Pierce)
Gasol (Perkins)
Odom is wide as a barn door when he gets down low. He'd bother Pee-Pee the most out of all Lakers players, in my opinion.
We know that Ariza can make life hard for KG and Gasol is long enough to trouble Perkins, who is not a touch type player with a high arching shot. If he tries to bang with Gasol, Pau is smart enough to pull the chair on him.
The second unit I'd run would have a bit more fire power:
Farmar
Sasha
Luke
Radman
Turiaf
Our starters need to improve their defense. My starting line-up is therefore a defensive line-up.
Our second unit hasn't scored enough. My second unit has firepower.
But, Phil won't do this and we will lose this series. I understand the the offensive and psychological concerns of changing the starting five, but in my opinion, it's what needs to be done to shake this series up. It'll force Doc Rivers to coach, and he doesn't know how to do that.

Odom has pretty good lateral footspeed... Odom is a versatile defender

That's why I said play Turiaf more minutes... Start out with the same defensive matchups as in previous games... at about the 8 minute mark in the first q, take out Rad, put in Turiaf... Thank you for actually reading the post

^ Stan Van Gundy would disagree with you.
KG did not at all destroy Ariza when he got the "stop KG" assignment from Stan Van Gundy earlier this season. The other way around, he played a big part in holding KG to 14 points in that game.
Several reports have been made that Ariza did an incredible job on KG in that game.

I'd love for Ariza (and you) to prove me wrong, but that's something I'd have to see to believe

I've heard this before too (haven't seen it in person) and I'd love it if Phil was a little more creative in his matchups.
PP was scoring like nobody was guarding him for two games. That has to change.
Whether it's Odom or Kobe or Ariza, we need a change on PP. The one downside is that I think Odom's done an underrated job on Perkins, who's been a very limited factor in 2 games. Would Turiaf be able to do the same? I don't know, maybe it's worth a shot. Radmanovic, on the other hand, would get eaten up by Perkins, I have no doubt in my mind.
I'm fine with Vujacic on Allen, and even if Allen frees himself off a couple screens, his damage will be much less than Pierce on Radmanovic. I'd like to see Sasha get into a rhythm and bust the hell out of the soft zone as well. Sasha is capable of getting stupid hot, so he needs to be in the game more.

I'd still go with:
Fisher (Rondo)
Kobe (Allen)
Ariza (KG/Rondo on PNR switches)
Odom (Pierce)
Gasol (Perkins)
