Donaghy: 2002 Sac vs. Lal game 6 FIXED

Ex-NBA referee Tim Donaghy told the feds two refs fixed the outcome of one playoff series - and that officials were told not to eject star players from games for fear of hurting ticket sales.
Donaghy claims he was told that two refs who were

it sucks that a criminal is going to bring more doubt to the lakers last title.

Nice. Perfect timing. Especially given the first two Finals games. The least jaded of my friends are calling me, asking what I think about the "seemingly paid-off" reffing. I guess it's not just my heart after all.

Well, that sucks.

I'm not sure what Donaghy has to gain by lying in this particular case, so it'll be interesting to see how the story unfolds.

If true, oh well. It'll be 13 + 1*, which still = 14. :)

to be honest this series DOES look fixed...i would feel shafted as a player and as a fan. It's entertainment but it should not be like the damn wwe! Maybe it's no secret why the best teams win every year. Lakers...Pistons...Spurs....Heat...
I got a question why they hating on me....

I really hoped this wasn't true but I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise given the Game 2 we had to watch the other night.

It is really sickening that all the hard work by these althletes doesn't seem to matter since the game is decided by someone who was probably eating a 24 pack of donuts before the game.

Not a real three-peat after all eh?

Talk about karma when Phil calls the Spurs' 99 championship as an asterisk for the 50-game season.

And being a disgruntled, frustrated Lakers fan right now I'm inclined to blame the refs for that game 2 loss but I'll take the high road quoting Magic and say we're just playing soft and getting outhustled :-)

I'm curious to wonder how many non-Laker&Boston fans think of the officiating. The WWE comparison is becoming more apparent with the standard of reffing right now but it doesn't cover up our poor D and execution on the offensive end.

You what guys............ FACK THIS GUY.
Seriously, think about ?
A M.F who rigged games for his own interest, a M.F who lied many times to everyone including his own family and friends.
His Facked everyone over for his own interest, why would you or anyone else believe this dirt bag pile of **** .
Sort of like the boy who cried wolf....... When M.F locked up in jail or facing charges......... They will say anything and do anything.
What makes you think he's not pulling this garbage out his A55.
What is the only game that he can make **** up with, that game.

Like the Jazz poster said, maybe this series is rigged too, do I agree NO.
You know why cause **** happens , maybe Joy or danny had a bad day, Maybe they did want to extend this series to 7.
Then again maybe there just a bunch of idiots that need to get a different job that they can do it the right way.

Fack this guy, look at the timing of this report.
Does it make you think why this came out today?

Anyone with eyes knew that series was either fixed or the refs were blind. It doesn't take a criminal to teach us that.

I'd gladly agree to a fair rematch of the Lakers-Kings series if we can get a fair rematch of Game 2.

Now that was whacked.....how did the C's have anything to do with this.....this was a possible gift the Lakers got from the refs in the past and you flip the script to the last game????

You need to be concerned about the league taking the last title back from you because of cheating by the refs not anything the C's did. Sac fans might cry for that.

I hope that was a joke....one of your good ones........ 8)

The NBA stands to gain from pushing a big market team into the Finals (ie. Lakers over Kings). The NBA does not gain in deciding who wins this NBA Finals. They could care less who wins this series, they only care that Boston and LA are in it.

Anyone who believes these games are fixed NOW, especially with all the heat the league is catching, is just plain old in denial. Yeah, its fixed because the Lakers are down 2-0. I would be the first to admit that there were a large number of fouls, but we have seen them go against us just as much in these playoffs (count up the total fouls from atlanta series - HUGE difference!). Give me a break. If it was reversed I bet you wouldnt be crying fixed. Let's stick to the matter at hand. If this is true, the Lakers had a major assist in '02 and yes, your championship will be considered tainted league wide.
