As a Pistons fan, I'd love to deal for Butler and/or Blatche.
Essentially everybody but Stuckey or Amir Johnson are available. With Arenas opting out, does Billups interest you at all?
I was thinking that McDyess would fit well on your team as well....
Do any of you forsee any trading opportunities between the two of us?
What's the plan for the Wiz?

Petey, I really can't see Washington trading Butler at all.
Detroit could offer something along the lines of Prince, Billups, + Maxiell for Butler, Thomas, and Daniels but I still don't know if Washington would deal Butler as he's possibly one of the more underrated players in the game, and he's got a great contract.

That's a trade I'd do in a second, but I don't know about the Wizards FO.

Detroit and Washington have already agreed to a deal.

That's a good thread. Lots of good discussion.
I agree that it is certainly a bonus for Washington that Prince is the NBA's iron man, having not missed a game in years.
Also, Prince might be a better fit between the offensive minded Arenas and Jamison.
Butler for Prince, Max, and #29 would be a deal 95% of Pistons fans would probably do but I'm not sold on it making us better in the long run.
That said, after another loss this past season, I certainly think its something Dumars would have to strongly consider.

Honestly? 29 isn't worth much and surely wouldn't be a deal breaker. At that point in the draft its really a crapshoot. You could find a solid bench player or you could end up with someone who's out of the league after his rookie contract.
Maxiell would almost certainly be an "average" starting PF or very good 6th man but he doesn't have all-star potential.
In Butler, you are getting a legit all-star and constant 20+ PPG scorer. He's a clear upgrade over Prince.

First off, I'd like to welcome our guests to the Wizboard. It's nice when folks stop by who know what they're talking about AND can string a sentence together.
To answer the question posed in the thread title, I think that Wiz FO's plan is to re-sign Arenas and Jamison, draft the BPA's with their two picks and stay under the lux tax.
Next season would be spent re-acclimating all the key parts to one another, and hopefully getting some valuable experience for our young talent -- and showcasing them a bit too.
Next offseason the Wiz will be in a position to be major players in the trade market if they so choose. They'll have sizable expiring contracts in Etan Thomas and Antonio Daniels (as well as Haywood, but they'll want to keep him) as well as young assets in Blatche, Nick Young, and whomever they add in this year's draft.
I'm not saying that the Wiz shouldn't make a major deal this offseason. I just think it's unlikely, given what I stated above. I'm sure Ernie will listen to any and every offer though.

How do Pistons fans feel about Etan + #18 for McDyess + #29?
I'd certainly consider such a deal. Etan is a decent big replacement for Dice and I'd be interested in moving up in the draft.
I would be concerned about this if I were a Wizard fan. Speculation is that Dice would rather retire than play anywhere else but Detroit, so you'd certainly need assurance that this wouldn't happen in order to pull the trigger on a move like this.
We'd love to make a move involving Prince and Butler (with other things added from our end, of course), but if the Wiz aren't interested in that it would be understandable. I've been a fan of Butler's game for a while now, and think that as long as you keep Jaminson and Arenas I think Butler could theoretically be dealt without the offense taking that much of a hit.
