Ray bitter about Doc pulling him out in the 4th?

Meanwhile, Allen was the hottest player on the court. After that 3-pointer early in the fourth quarter, he was 8-for-11 from the floor. He had made all five of his 3-pointers. He was carrying his team, and then for some reason Doc Rivers ripped the team out of Allen's hands and gave it back to Garnett and Pierce on nights they clearly didn't have it.

And Allen doesn't pretend to understand why.

"That's just where the offense went," he said. "I think from a coaching perspective, that's where the plays were directed. That's what we ran. For me, any time my number gets called, I'm going to be ready to shoot the ball."

So, someone asked Allen, wasn't your number called in the fourth quarter?

"What you saw is what we got," he said.

I share Ray's sentiments here as well. He was the hot hand for the Celtics. Why all of a sudden stop going to him?

Doc did a bad job this game. His lineup to start the 4th was idiotic (like usual). He didn't play Powe enough, he didn't post up KG, they didn't run hardly any pick and rolls etc etc.

Bitter is pushing it.....he answered the question.....he's not bitter.
I agree Doc should have gone with the hot hand..not saying we would have won but I would have stayed with the hot hand...... 8)

I remember saying to myself at around the 10 minute mark when Allen came out: "Self, what the hell is Doc doing taking our only offensive player tonight out in a close game? We will lose this game because of this move." And I feel we did. Chain reaction. Ray never got it going after that. Just terrible.

Come on Ray Allen. Stop running your trap.

Doc didn't complain about you sucking vs Atl..Cleveland and a bit of Detroit. Now that you're swagger is back it's all cool

Its amazing how sometimes Doc will just totally **** up the flow of the game with bad subs. Last night was a monumentally bone head decision from doc. The way Ray was shooting if we kept him in we coulda been watching a elimination game thursday.

I've yet to understand why they haven't run pick and rolls with Pierce and KG.

Agreed with the other posters though, ray coming out wasn't a smart move by doc. He was money from downtown, doc takes him out. And he bricks the first two he takes after it.

The only defense I have is that Doc wanted to give him a bit of a rest. But for the love of God, this is the Finals! No more series later. Who needs rest? These guys have trained their whole lives for this.

Bad move by Doc. Fair criticism all around.

First bad move (other than every time Cassell enters the game) Doc has made in the Finals.

The Fakers didn't win that game, we lost it. :nonono:
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

I'd say playing Powe about 3 minutes was moronic too. Hrm, he scored 21 pts last game in limited minutes, and now he gets no burn. That's just horrible.

The strange thing is Ray played the entire second half of Game 1 when his offensive contributions were moderate.

I don't mind the quick breather - just thought that they didn't do much to get him involved when he came back in. They should go to some Rip Hamilton type offense on a day when he's feeling it and have him moving around. Of course, with House playing point guard, it might not have worked (I don't mean that as an insult - he made a really nice feed to Ray out in the corner to start the fourth quarter in fact - I just mean that he isn't a pure point guard known for his ability to run offense).

Really, all three of the big three played poorly in the fourth after they came back in off the bench. KG threw up a wild air ball on his first possession. Pierce came back in and forced up a fadeaway right away. Ray came back in after Paul's fifth and didn't score again. I think all three of them should be more cognizant next time of not trying to be in too much of a hurry to take the game over and just get back in the flow.

I'd have to rewatch the game but the way Ray Allen plays its not as simple as give Ray the ball, and its particularly hard when Rondo isn't on the court to set him up. There were severalt times we tried to get Ray open and either we were called for a moving screen or Ray just couldn't get open. Also some of the shots we got at the end of the game were pretty good looks. We just missed them.

I didn't know what to say when Doc took Ray out of the game, it just didn't make sense. Ray was matching Kobe on basically every shot, he even started the 4th hitting a 3 pointer and then you take him out of the game? Just idiotic.

Agreed.

I disagree. Powe is a reserve, and will be inconsistent. Yeah, he only played 6 minutes last night, but they weren't 6 good minutes, and just because he had 21 in game 2 means nothing in game 3.
