Doesn't matter what kind of shape love gets in, he will never be a center at 6'9 with short arms, and he will never be as quick or long as Al or Brand.
I'm confident McHale will not have the final say in this (and that this Love talk is just a smokescreen, and a pretty good one with how riled up we're getting). In fact, I have a feeling these guys with "sources" like MOH at KFAN are being spoonfed "smokescreened" info (or their sources would've been fired already). Them "leaking" they like Brewer last year may have been an attempt to get a team to trade up and take him last year so Jeff Green would drop.
I'm confident Taylor will go with the dollar signs and take the kid with the potential to bring the crowds back to Target Center. Corey Brewer over Spencer Hawes (who was supposed to be the guy McHale was drooling over) also gives me hope.

What should intrigue you is that they're both extremely intelligent, powerful, forces on the glass, and have perfect complimentary games, hard workers, and both showed huge improvements on the defensive end towards the end of their season.
Kevin Love led the tournament in blocks, averaged 4 per game, but everybody assumes he'll be some pushover loser in the NBA even though his defensive and conditioning improvement has been exponential
Love could be a solid man defender at PF or maybe even C, but I don't see how he'll be able to compensate for Jefferson's weaknesses. I think you need somebody who can be a help defender inside.

To take anyone other than Mayo with the 3rd overall pick would be a huge mistake, one which will put the nail in the coffin (for some I'm sure it is already there) that McHale is the dumbest gm of the 21st century--and we are less than a decade in.
If we were to trade down, then so be it. Then the evaluations would be based on what was returned to us in said trade. Getting Love, Lopez, the Euro, or that small pg, or even Alexander in this manner would be acceptable.
But to take Love or Lopez at 3 is a mistake. You swing for the fences with this pick and Mayo is the one.

FYI, Chad Ford also mentions Mayo not wanting to workout for us in his latest mock draft.

That could lead the Wolves to roll the dice on a more talented player, such as O.J. Mayo or Danilo Gallinari.
Mayo would duplicate what they already have in the backcourt with Randy Foye and Rashad McCants. But he's better than both of those guys and would give the Wolves some star power alongside Jefferson. It's too early to tell whether his reluctance to work out for them will affect whether they take him or not.
