does the NBA fix games???

I found this halftime understory to be the most fascinating aspect of yesterday's game. Yeah LA won and that sucks, but honestly who really thought they wouldn't. Vegas had them as a 9.5 favorite for christs sake!!! :lol:

Good article in today's Herald about the issue with the officiating. I've been saying for years that David Stern is the 'Don of Basketball' I wouldn't be the least bit suprised if he ordered this series to go 7 games as well. Especially after hearing that CBS would make over half a billion dollars because of it...... :wavefinger:

By the same logic, the Celtics were given Game 2. What was it, 38-10?

Piston fans say that the NBA fixed up the Celtics to win and Spur fans say there's a huge conspiracy for Laker/Celtics.

I don't agree, Celtics and Lakers were clearly the 2 best teams in the 2 conferences.

I'd like to think the Lakers didn't show up in Game 2 until the 4th quarter.

I'd also like to think in game 3, only Ray Allen came to play for the Celtics.

^^Seriously? The Laker team in game 3 was MUCH different from the one in game 2. In game 3 they actually WENT TO THE HOOP and hit some shots, unlike game 2.

No they don't Celtics got the calls in game 2 LAL got the calls in game 3..

The NBA wants all games to go 7...lol..think if Bos loses ..it's cuz they just got together and next year ..blah blah..LAkers lose ..Kobe isn't this Kobe isn't That ..but next year with bynum blah blah..ect..

...I believe that the officiating is not "ordered" to be biased, although so far in the playoffs the officiating has been advantageous for any home team...I think the refs are intimidated by the home court fans to be honest...and to be fair, because a lot of the calls are based on interpretation and opinon it is a really tough job...

Exactly right. And in game 3, the Celtics settled for missing jumpshots instead of taking it to the hoop like they did in game 2. PP was unstoppable in the paint in Game 2, but in game 3 he was just throwing up long distance bricks. KG spent most of Game 3 at the 3 point line.

All this conspiracy stuff is overblown, just watch the game.

in the press conference, phil jackson was asked about the tim donaghy allegations, and phil replied by saying that the refs should be under a whole other organization that's not involved with the nba front office and is independent. that would be a pretty good idea tho i doubt it would happen

The Cs-Cavs series was blatantly in favor of the LeBrons, especially game 6. That was some disgusting officiating I've seen since 2002. Totally egregious.

They might. Despite Stern's denials its not hard to imagine those events happened. The league controls the refs - if they entered into an agreement the league could just deny it ever happened. Because no money exchanged hands it would be hard to prove.

Of course it is, as everyone has pretty well known for years. But it IS news that it may not be bottled up safely within a one-man scandal after all--and more of the ugly truth is coming out.

Good. Let's get some sunshine in there as Stern disinfectant and get the League on a track of greater integrity at least.

that would really be the best thing for the NBA, but it will never happen, Don Stern would never relinquish such power...

I thought the House testicle foul on Billups was pro wrestling type stuff.

That said I have children that ref soccer games and it is tough to get it right. Some calls are just very difficult to make, offsides in soccer and offensive fouls in basketball.

I think if you kick the guy in the balls, you should be ejected in any sport. Even pro wrestling.

I agree with your last sentence, but the fact that some calls are difficult to make doesn't absolve the referees from blowing the calls they do. These men are PROFESSIONALS. If they can't hack it, fire 'em and hire refs who can.
