the thing that i think is funny is how the league says that the only ones involved in the scandal were donaghy and his to highschool buddies.

it would be naive of us to believe that there were only three involved. it just shows that stern and his cronies have little regard for the fans and even less for the teams that dont dont fit their plans or play by their rules.

Stern has proven what a hypocrite he really is. If he were really concerned about the integrity of the refs he would look into these allegations and find out the truth of the matter.

This is a travesty. I know Suns fans were distraught after the playoffs last year, but this casts its shadow over the entire league...

second, about stern, all i have to say about his reactions is, whenever someone is guilty and cant come up with anything to prove innocence only thing the can do is: Deny, deny, deny!!!!!!!!

look at the way the "letter of the law" had to be followed to suspend amare and diaw but then not garnett or not 4 lakers players in 2002 when they left the bench during a fight

then fishers foul not called against brent barrys shot at the end of their game with the spurs, the league wanted lakers celts, they got it

the league is a farce

the way they decided to start calling shaq for line violations out of absolutely nowhere completely proves what donaghy said about just finding violations and picking and choosing when to call them (just like "letter of the law" abiding)

also it confirms what we already know - there are star calls

the suns were the best team in the league last season IMO and have been robbed out of the suns first ever title. Haha, did you guys catch the Van Gundy interview in last nights game?

Poor guy just got solid affirmation that he was right, that a ref did tell him they were supposed to call more fouls on Yao Ming, he complained about it and got fined $100,000... Incredible.

Worst still is the Sacramento - Los Angeles series they have talked about. Not to take anything away from LA, but speaking as a fan of a fellow underdog team myself.... my heart goes out to all of those fans who knew it was a conspiracy at the time. What was it, like 16 of their last 18 points were foul shots? Haha! Stern is so screwed.

Here's the thing. I know there are big market teams. I get that. But what if an old school, Stockton led Jazz team or a Johnson led Suns team won today. You would have small-market teams slowly see a revival of their fan-base and people would genuinly fall in love with a game were anyone can win on any given night.

If the league office caters to big-market teams for much longer, the NBA will suck as much as the MLB in terms of the disparity present.

The refs are not the problem, its Stern. as long as hes commish, this league is always going to be a crock.

I believe the refs have the hardest job in pro sports. Have you ever tried to officiate a game? not easy. But sterns arrogance and his statement is farce. We know he is lying, and he knows it too. This is his empire and when you go so deep, you tend to keep fighting to keep it afloat and allow things happen to keep the ship afloat. Enron is a good model of the NBA.

All of the examples that have been given, we know that he has never been consistent as the commish. And some things have been very fishy with certain games being called the way they were, and same with picks.

I hate conspiracy theorist, but the nba is hard to over look these theories.

Just too much evidence. There is a reason why fans continue to leave the nba, and the NFL continues to build in popularity.
