Post#1 » by dirtyfilthynasty » Wed Jun 11, 2008 12:54 pm

I try not to post offtopic stuff to much but the summer is here and there isn't really much to talk about.

I was told about this online basketball game called courtrivals.com. I haven't tried it but it sounds like it could be fun. You create a player (height and position) and train him in various aspects of his game. When you put him on a team, the team plays a game (simulation) every night where box scores are generated. Every day, you can do a little more to improve your player.

I have already created a SF by the name of Buckets McGee who will be a Bruce Bowen type player once he is fully trained.

I know I did a crappy job of explaining everything but I am in a hurry. If you need more information, you can check out the website or ask me and I will get back when I can. The reason I am posting is to see if you guys would be interested in having a Mavs board team. Anyone can join but spaces are limited. I have created a team and it is called the RGM Mavs and the password is dirk.

if you join, please post your players height and position so we dont' have 10 point guards and 1 big man. Thanks guys.

Thanks. One more note. I forgot to mention that everything is free. If you are on the internet for a while anyway it isn't that time-consuming either. Probably won't be checking in much for the rest of the day but hopefully we fill out the other seven roster spots by the end of the night so everyone can play in the game tonight.

You now have a 6'!0" PF named Michael Gruber. I'll be training up endurance as well.

By my count we only have one SG and one SF.

Yeah, one center too much.

Maybe one Center can also play PF, so if we get one SF and SG all is even

Having read some of the forums at rivals, it seems the teams with the better team strategy beat the teams with the better team stats. C's and PF's should be crashing the boards and PG's and SG's should be getting back on D, that sort of thing.
That said, what will our team strategy be? I plan on training my PF for rebounding, dunking, and passing. I set my sliders for no 3 point shots, shoot 75% of the time and pass 25%, attack the basket, crash the boards, and conservative D. What do the rest of you plan on?

Yeah, good point. We need a team strategy.

I have set my C Frederic "Air" Weiss to no 3's, 50%pass 50% shoot(just dunk) and 100% attack basket. Off ball crash boards and conservative defense. You as a PF can take your chances on D and rack up some blocks and steals while i stay in the paint f.e.
I will train rebounds first (priority), defense (second), dunking and leadership follow.
Worked out in the first game, Weiss leading RGM Mavs with a double-double off the bench

Yeah, you're our spark off the bench. I'll adjust my D to 50/50, and see how that goes. I think all C's and PF's should go 100% crash boards, SF 50/50, and guards should be all about getting back on D.

and the RGM Mavs team jumps out to a quick 1-0 record with a 99-90 win last night. The defense really came through as we held them to 41 points in the second half. The guards really lit it up and my Co-MVPs have to be Holger Geschwinder with 21 points and 3 assists and yep you guessed it Frederic Weiss who was instrumental in the comeback with 13 points and 10 rebounds off the bench.

Good job guys don't forget to work on your endurance today if you have the time.

As for Buckets McGee, I think I am going to try to model him after Josh Howard if Josh Howard played like we wanted him to which means lockdown defense, few jumpshots and attacking the basket.

We still have two spots left if somebody wants to join and we need guards badly.

I take back the guards thing. I think we currently have (and correct me if I am wrong) 2 point guards (one scorer and one passer) 2 shooting guards, 1 small forward (who's 1-5 performance might get him demoted to waterboy), 1 pf, and 3 centers. The centers can also play pf so we probably need a scoring small forward and maybe one more distributor somewhere. One of you big men can work on scoring as well.
