Nominate the Sonic Poster that evaluate the best talent
predraft in the past few years.
Rules you can't nominate yourself and you have to give reasons why you think they are the scouts. Take into consideration on where the sonics pick, so lets say it doesn't matter if they think James would have turn out great if we really had no shot at him. Also, calling BUST is part of scouting.
1. sonictecture - Was very high on Al Jefferson, Josh Smith or was it Josh Childress (who I think is pretty underrated), David West, and thought we should have moved up to pick up WADE. Tecture aslo called out a bunch of bust players most notable Ridnour, JJ Redick (who I thought many Sonics poster was pretty high on). One player I am really high on because of Tecture seem to be pretty high on is Marcus Williams)
2. Downtown - he is very consistent with his evaluation on players and gives great analysis on their potential. Never was a bandwagon poster and never seem to be really high on any players but the ones he liked turned out pretty good. (Roy, Jefferson, Barbosa)
3. Chad42 (i think it was his sn) - Like Tecture, he was really high on Al Jefferson. Chad was also high on Swift and Swift didn't turn out too well.

I'm going to break your rule and nominate myself!!!
How far back are we going? 2003?
Here's my hits and misses
2003 HITS
Nailed Collison, still would pick him again here. Got what we expected.
Ridnour - still would have picked him here too, look at the rest of the round... besides David West and Barbosa (who nobody knew anything about), the rest of this draft after #6 or so is out of the league already.
2003 MISSES
West (obviously)
Barbosa
2004 HITS
Called the Swift bust, the Arajou bust, the Telfair bust, the Howard explosion.
2004 MISSES
Missed the boat on Anderson Varejao. Also completely homered it and thought Blake Stepp would stick around the league for a couple years.
2005 HITS
Knew Marvin Williams was going to bust or at least be a mediocre role player (and told everybody and their mother that the entire NC class was weak and not NBA calibur, although I thought Sean May had the best chance), was pretty dead on about Petro. Threw up red flags about the Gelabale pick too.
2005 MISSES
Thought Diago was going to be more of an impact player. Also thought Bynum was a worthless scrub...
2006 HITS
Knew that Sene, Redick would flop. Told everyone we should trade up for Roy (possible homer statement that actually made sense in the end)
2006 MISSES
Homered it again and thought Morrison would contribute more... Also missed the boat on Rajon Rondo
2007 HITS
Posted and told friends that Stuckey was going to bigtime. Green should turn out to what I thought he would, a solid starter, but not All Star. Nailed the Durant pick!!!! (real hard one). Also, hit Thornton being a future All Star. I also picked Noah to be a big bust, but I might be a little wrong there.
2007 MISSES
Thought Gabe Pruitt, Big Baby Shaq, and Nick Fazekas would become impact rookies....
Hmmm. Actually looking back on it now, maybe I'm not nominating myself... This whole draft thing is a crapshoot anyways....

I think it was Heavy P or bennith that liked Redick. Someone on this board compared Redick to a short Ray Allen based off his pure clutch shooting in college. I did think Tecture did stat that Luke Jackson will be better than Iguodala. And I hated when he use the PAC 10 games as an example of how Luke Jackson was far superior than Iggy.
The only thing I had against Tecture regarding evaluating talent is HE STATED that Iggy will be average and nothing spectacular WHICH HE IS SO WRONG. Iggy should have won the slam dunk contest, should have been an All Star this year, should be in a SONIC uniform.

I appreciate anyone remembering my views in a positive light, but the truth is I will typically support the prospects that have already been dismissed at this time of year. It isn't so much that I believe in the particular prospect, but that I enjoy the discussion.
chad42 should be given all the credit for supporting Al Jefferson. Downtown was a bigger supporter of David West than myself. Sweezo once supported Araujo and will never be trusted again. Posters such as whitedolemite and spirit of 76 are rarely heard from most the year, but offer great views before and after the draft.
I found this site and joined because of my interest in the draft, but I'm sure I've been wrong more than I've been right.

I nominate all of you that remember with such clarity who the other posters wanted the Sonics to draft in years past. Your memory is better than mine.
I do have to say that just like how the draft actually turns out, there are no guarantees in predictions. I was around at the beginning of sonicscentral(which was close to when I signed up at realgm, in 2001), which I call the golden age. Kevin Pelton, who was one of the founders, and as we all know works for the Sonics(he stopped administering sonicscentral when he got an internship with the team and the site nearly dissapeared for good), was considered fairly bright in his analysis of the team. I recall him saying that Michael Bradley was the guy Seattle should pick the year they selected Radmanovic. You just never know.

I probably defended Redick since I'm a huge Duke fan, however I did not think he should go to the Sonics, I wanted Thabo over him, and Sene over him. I didn't buy Luke Jackson hype, but that could be me with my UW glasses on and hatred of the ducks.

How come I don't get any credit for Andre Iguodala? HAHA, just playing. I think it was probably the fact that I beat a dead horse by praising about IGGY. I was really high on Gay and thought he would be better than Roy. I was also high on Bosh can kept on b1tching that the sonics didnt have the balls to trade up and get Bosh. I never thought Al Jefferson would be that good nor I thought Josh Smith would be electric. My strengths are scouting guards and I tell you Mayo has a chance to be the best in this year's class. DJ Augustine is also a very good PG and is highly underrated. Rush is the top wing in this year's class. If you notice, I don't say much about Gordon because to be honest, I never had a chance to see him play. Milik Harrison is my steal of the draft.

I said Roy should go 3rd to Charlotte, as his game translated perfectly to NBA. I was high on Morrison, but thought he'd struggle his first few years as he has little athleticism, however I've yet to see a player in College score in as many different ways as Adam.
Soybean led the Iggy charge, however I liked Loul Deng way more.

I dont remember How I thought about Redick. I don't think I wanted the Sonics to draft him, but I know for a fact that I didn't want Sene. Redick could still end up being a decent role player. The Sonics were in a really tough spot in that draft.
Edit: Oh I remember now... the guy I really liked was Rondo. I liked that he was a quick PG that could play some defense. Also I remember his comparison on NBAdraft.net was Gary Payton for a while.

I don't think anyone wanted Sene(i was just, wtf the 3rd center in a row) or even had him being a possibility at #10. What i remember was most of us wanted Ronny Brewer or maybe JJ Redick to back up Ray. Some also weren't against trading down(especially to the Nets for their two first rounders) to gain multiple picks.

Yes, Rondo had been on the list as well(but hadn't been talked about too much) and i also remember Marcus Williams being brought up as well.
