Game 7 1993 Western Conference Finals: Suns vs. Sonics

Post#1 » by Bucs80 » Thu Jun 12, 2008 1:28 am

Well I looked this up regarding whats going on. And I ask some of you old timers who remember. Could have this been Jobbed aswell?

The NBA has always laughed off the charge, but conspiracy theorists often point to Game 7 of the 1993 Western Conference finals in making their case -- saying Phoenix got an inordinate number of calls against Seattle because the league wanted to see a Suns-Chicago Bulls final.

"Here was the scenario: A Barkley-Jordan final, and Barkley did a commercial for NBC three weeks before the finals -- and he told me about it. And then they shoot 67 free throws in the final game," said Karl, who coached the SuperSonics in that game.

There were 100 foul shots taken in that game, 64 by the Suns. Seattle was called for 38 personal fouls and had three players disqualified; Phoenix was whistled for 27 fouls and had no one foul out.

It's been just over 11 years, and I'm still not done being mad about the '93 Sonics getting jobbed in Game 7 of the Western Conference finals vs. Phoenix. But somehow, it does help to have a fairly well-known guy with a column on ESPN.com and in ESPN the Magazine come out and say in a by-the-way, "the sky is blue" kind of statement of fact that yes, the Sonics were robbed.

Nope. Even the Phoenix Suns themselves acknowledge that they couldn't have done it without the refs

64 Ft's which is so uncalled for. Especially in game 7 and the Potential Jordan vs. Barkley match-up makes me feel that it was jobbed too.

And the floodgates have opened....

Pretty soon we'll have posters from every team talking about how their team just didn't have what it took to advance to a later round. If the league was rigged, then why was Lebron (aka The Golden Child) dominated and swept by Tim Duncan? Matter of fact, the end of Game 3 in which Lebron was possibly fouled by Bruce Bowen didn't change at all.

Anybody remember Jake O'Donnell ejecting Clyde Drexler in a key playoff game ?

Like Iceburg said the flood gates have open, let the tales begin.

Or when Vince slapped Mo Pete and Mo Pete gave him a light back hand back and the ref ejected him.

Also the time Kobe scored 81 on the Raptors, all rigged! :D

Barkley was filmed for a commercial with Jordan three weeks before the finals that year. Something is deeply wrong with the NBA. Deeply

or how about that time when your team scored more points than my team and knocked my team out of the playoffs?

bloody cheats.

but seriously.... I think ANY professional sport is 'influenced' by the people running it to a certain extent... but to say that every uncalled foul and every called phantom foul is evidence of the NBA being rigged is just dumb. Refs are allowed to make mistakes you know...

Was that the game where shaq took a huge swing and just barely missed?

The '85 Bears recorded the Super Bowl Shuffle before the Week 13 game. That's like almost a month and half before they even qualified to play in the game. Something is deeply wrong with the NFL. Deeply.

My whole life is rigged!! Everything that happens at work is Stern and Taglibue!
