There are a lot of stories from Red (backed up by league records) where the league gave extra draft picks to the Knicks back in the 60's when they sucked in order to prop them up. Red warned against it because he knew when the Celtics were in the same boat they'd get ****, too.

Ah, I didn't know you meant that long ago. I thought you were speaking only about the NBA under Stern. My fault.

Red said that the league would **** the team for all their winning someday and he was right.

Huh, didn't realize that about the contracts of Bias and Lewis. That's pretty sh*tty. Do you know if the contracts of guys like Bobby Phills, Malik Sealy, or Drazen Petrovic stayed on the cap? I remember hearing something about the Hornets having to pay the final 2 years, $10 million for Phills, but don't know if that actually counted against the cap. I had no idea the league even did that.

Petrovic and Sealy came off the books. In Red's book "Let Me Tell You a Story", which I re-read 2 weeks ago, he even says he'll never forgive the NBA for making them carry Bias and Lewis when other teams were given breaks.
It's still 17 to 11!!!!
