With this kind of showing in the Finals and looking back.I consider it an upset in the Western Finals with the Spurs and who thinks that it was all luck the Lakers beat the Spurs?

luck, he says.

how many games did that series go again?

the spurs just weren't as good.

if anyone's lucky it's NBA fans for not having to sit through a boston rout of SA.

No. The Spurs decided to single cover Kobe and paid the price. Plus those bums are old.

Nope. Everything was fixed. Stern rigged the entire playoffs just so there can be a Boston la finals. He doesnt care who wins.

Odd Year Dynasty continues next year!!!

Its the NBA, anything happens. Its a difference of 1 or 2 shots for any teams this playoff.

The Celtics nearly blew the lead in game 2, Lakers did in game 4. Celtics are the clear better team but this is not nearly as lopsided as say last year. Boston is the best team in the league (have been all year outside the first two rounds) and were a matchup problem for the Lakers. It is what it is.

Come on, give some credit to the Lakers for beating the Spurs and making an incredible playoff run. The Spurs didn't even stand a chance against the Lakers.

They beat the Spurs by scoring more points than them.

Seriously, maybe the Lakers outplayed the aging Spurs?

ive been saying this for far too long! far too long! the West is SOFT! the West is full of a bunch of teams who play no defense and who score a lot of points. it looks pretty but it doesn't win championships. The Spurs are the closest thing and they were injured and are obviously declining.

Ginobli being injured killed the spurs.

Why wouldn't they?

Spurs, unlike the Celtics, can't shoot to save their lives. Heck, Spurs can't score PERIOD.

Spurs, unlike, the Celtics, are both mentally and physically soft. Thus one choke job after another this entire decade. Pathetic, really.

Spurs, unlike the Celtics, are stupid enough to throw a 40 year old at Kobe and be content with it. Kobe faces nothing but single coverage against them and has done so all decade. Celtics, aside from being flat out better defensively, are also flat out better at guarding Kobe. They aren't (Please Use More Appropriate Word) enough to throw single coverage. They double, they trap, they shadow, the pack it in and so on. Which is why Kobe can't do sh it against them. Has like 1 good performance and 5 **** ones in 6 meetings. Kobe has never shown any ability to conquer good defenses who are willing to throw more than single coverage at him(like all other stars face).

So, why wouldn't LA beat San Antonio yet struggle against Boston? The latter is A LOT LOT BETTER and not to mention tougher. East > West when it comes to toughness. The WC teams, while talented, are a bunch of pansies.

1. Just cause we're about to lose to the best team in the League doesn't mean you can't give us some damned credit for outlasting the best Western Conference in recent memory.

2. We matched up very well with them, and monopolized it en route to a Western Conference Championship.

3. I'm hoping the mods/people in power put clamps on this hair trigger nonsense. Yeah we're losing, but I hope I don't see 200 threads on why we suck since we more than likely outlasted out the OP's (whoever it may be) favorite team.

4. Laker for life, and I'm going down with the ship, albeit in my room alone.

Lakers beat the Spurs because Pop kept playing Big Shot Bob in hopes of rekindling some magic that never came.

did some of you even watch the series?..

3 simple reasons..

#1.age of role players..
#2.Ginobili..
#3.bad matchups vs. LA(although this one wasn't important)..

LOL @ some of you..HouMac..Spurs are mentally soft? LOL is this a serious comment? the Spurs meltdowns this year had NOTHING to do with mentality..it was simply bad offense because of bad role players(due to age)..how is it possible to win 4 titles and be mentally soft? are you **** kidding me? ban yourself..

the Spurs defensive strategy vs. Kobe had NOTHING to do with the Lakers winning..if our offense is above average, it negates Kobe's game, since his teammates didn't do that much offensively, especially Gasol and Odom..

last year's Spurs team definitely beats LA IMO..nothing against the Lakers, they were definitely better than us this year..I just think last year's Spurs would have beaten them, and beaten Boston IMO..

it'll be interesting to see next year..Duncan, Parker and Ginobili with younger role players vs. the Lakers with Bynum(if he can recover)..
