His 34% ain't great, and he should shoot better then 75% from the free-throw line.

He also has only played a total of 131 games out of a possible 164 which isn't great by any stretch of the imagination, especially for a player who is only in his first and second years in the league.

The majority of those missed games are from is rookie year. Last year Roy played in 74 of 82. And 2 of those missed games were because of a death in the family. He does tend have alot of bumps and bruises though. Then again I'd expect that to lessen up a bit with Oden on the court with him.

I've seen him play a good bit, and he's probably my second favorite player in the league right now. There's only one real weakness I see in his game; his deference to others. Sometimes he gives up the ball too much and will see offensive trips where the ball doesn't touch his hand again. And being unselfish is good and all, but sometimes he's unselfish when his team is shooting terribly, or Aldridge is shooting terribly. When I watch him play I feel like he can exert so much more than he does. Sometimes he's too "team".

SPeaking as a wolves fan...

The argument could be made that fundamentally Roy has no weakness, but because of his lack of elite athletic abiity and his killer instinct (too unselfish) he is set as the perfect Robin to a post-Batman.

I am a huge fan of his game.

he really could use some work on his 4th quarter free throws
and being more assertive to start games off
that's about it and keep getting better and improving his whole game

The argument that hes not an elite athlete is false. He is, he just doesn't depend on it so much like most players in the NBA. Here is some proof...

Rudy Gay whom is regarded as a freak of an athlete tested with a 1 inch lower standing vert, the same max vert, only .1 seconds faster in the lane agility drills, and ran the 3/4 sprint slower then Brandon Roy. Show me some stats that say Brandon Roy isn't an elite athlete. He just happens to have an elite Basketball IQ to go with it. If you say Roy isn't an elite athlete neither is Rudy Gay.

As for his 3 point shooting percent, yes it can stand to improve quite a bit. People usually don't mention Kobe (34%), McGrady (33.7%), Vince Carter (37.5%), Pierce (36.3%), Iverson (31.4%), Rip (34.5%), Baron Davis (32.5%), Arenas (35.8%) whom all have pretty mediocre career 3 Pt%. Roy only finished his 2nd year. Usually three point shooting improves when the defense is pulled inside and gets better with time. Roy will have both of those in his favor.

Roy has unbelievable body control. He can contort himself to find openings into lanes, and has the strength to absorb contact while finishing plays. Saying that he isn't an elite athlete is just silly. He just doesn't dunk as much because he doesn't need to; not because he can't.

Only sub-par result from his pre-draft numbers is his wingspan. But his fundamentals and BBIQ on defense make up for any weakness.

Also, Roy had a bad year shooting. He shot 38% from 3 his rookie year and 84% from the line. He shot 40% from and 81% FT in his senior year at UW. Hardly a weakness.

Roy has no major weakness in his game. He is a great allround player who has smarts AND is a decent athlete.

He is an Allstar SG who has the handling, playmaking and passing of a PG as well as the size(6'6, 230) and allround game of a SF.

His only weakness is Bruce Bowen. Roy gets shut down by him. In 6 games, shoots 35% and 12 ppg.

I'd say his biggest weakness is his wingspan or more accurately his standing reach relative to his height. His standing reach is only 8'5", if it was 8'10" he'd be a superstar.

roy is a top 5 all around player in the league today, he really has no glaring weaknesses. people are saying he isnt much of a post up guy, but when ur playing pg half the time and sg the other half you tend to spend alot of time on the perimeter. i have not missed a game of B-Roys career yet and i think he has such a good feel for the game already in his second year its scary. he always seems to know what to do and is always under control in what he does. roy does play in the post he just does is whenever he feels is a good time. if hes in a game and sees an opportunity to post up succesfully he will, he wont force the post up but if u give it to him he will take it.

and the guy who said he has no quickness or agility, u have obviously never watched roy play, he has one of the best first steps in the game and is one of the most deceptively quick players in the league. ask laker fans and they can tell u that not even kobe can guard roy, he is just too elusive and uses his body to well, puts himself into a position on the floor where he knows he has options for creating a play.

It's easy to overlook his physical abilities, but time and time again I've seen him use his quickness, strength, leaping ability, and body control to blow by his man, find a crease to the basket, elevate, take the hit and finish. I'm not worried in the least bit about his defense, 3pt shooting, or ft shooting. He'll be a good 3pt shooter at a great ft shooter. His defense went from merely good to at times stellar over the course of the last season.

He missed part of his rookie season due to his talus bone, which seems to be a non-issue now and can be easily corrected through surgery if it becomes a problem again. The ripple effect of the ODEN factor coupled with Lamarcus' developing prolific offensive game will take a lot of the burden off of Roy's back. He carried this team through large portions of the last two seasons and he simply won't have to do that anymore. For an update on Oden check out Mike Barrett's latest blog entry. The man is going to be ripping the rim down.

Roy is the heir to the legacy of Joe Dumars. One of the top players but so smooth and skilled he tends to get underrated
