Reply to a laker post saying bynum playing means sweeping us
I'm a celtics fan and i believe that the lakers are no doubt a nice match for us in the finals. They also dominated the west that's why they got this far.
However, with all due respect, saying that bynum is the key for the lakers to sweep the celtics has no basis at all. First of all, BYNUM was a non-factor on both regular season games wherein guys like odom and radman had success against us. 2nd, if you know the triangle, having a guy like gasol who can face up with 4 mobile players who can shoot around him makes the offense more fluid so you still can't conclude an outcome. Bynum playing at the same time with gasol can also pose a problem on offense. and the bottom line is that it's yet to be seen so no conclusions are valid. Imo, this is the best lakers team at this point. 3rd, the celtics defend better against a team who relies on the paint on offense than a team who focus much of their offense outside and on 3pt shots. Just see how well you score against us using small ball. With that said, just be classy enough to appreciate good defense and timely offense rather than make speculations about a player who is not a sure factor in this series.

It would have made the series more competative though. I've always thought that playing Odom at small forward is the way to go and with that lineup, with Gasol at the 4 and Odom at the 3 they would present more problems for our defense. I still think we'd be the better team and come out on top but it would be a more competative series. Hey, I know this one's not over but we are CLEARLY the better team. When the Lakers are up it is becasue of our lack of focus, not because of any matchup problems. The Lakers are just not on the level right now. They probably the 3rd or 4th best team in the league. Detroit would have beaten them as well. Maybe next year they can take us to 7...

Bynum would seem like an upgrade from Radmanovic.
That said, in next year's hypothetical rematch:
1. Both teams will have had a year to jell.
2. The minor-injuries disparity may not favor the Lakers again, just as the major-injury disparity might not favor the Cs again.
3. The Celtic young players who are still improving (Rondo, Perk) are more important than the Laker young players who are still improving.

I remember seeing a thread on their board when we were struggling with ATL. And them cruising through denver. It was titled something along the lines of "Aren't you glad we didn't trade for KG."
If their were lots of laker trolls (and there not) I would want to go back to that thread, and just rip it to pieces. Because KG is so much better then gasol it is not even funny. When the celts were down, KG did not have that puss face on him like gasol did when they were down.
Anyway, that was a little off topic, just saw the title and wanted to add something. Agreed with the OP about this subject.

On paper Lakers look better with Bynum, but how many Paper Champions have we seen fail.
Also, does anyone think Bynum is tough? He can block shots and rebound, but does he deny the post and play good on the ball ( once post player receives ball ) defense?
Just a question, because i honestly have not seen Bynum play that much this year.

Bynum is also a person who says next season they will BEAT the Bulls 72-10 record, how ignorant are these people in LA? Do the fans actually believe this imbecile? Bynum has quickly become one of the most overrated centers in NBA history, must be because he's a Laker.
All he's gonna do is take shots away from Kobe, Pau and Lamar.. and once he gets paid, watch out for Blount-syndrome.

Not if the Lakers win the next 3 games. Let's close this out before claiming to be the better team. All the games have been competitive.

Exactly. Bynum is vastly overrated..what has he done so far to warrant comparisons to Kareem and Wilt?
And remember Kobe the "great teammate" telling management to "ship his ass out of town" last year for Kidd?

It's still 17 to 11!!!!

No kidding. 1/2 of a decent season in a young career does not a HOF center make...unless you're a Laker fan!
