Why you play Tony Allen on Bryant for game five

Post#1 » by campybatman » Fri Jun 13, 2008 8:24 am

If Tony Allen is healthy and can play which was evident in game four he is. Why not play Tony some minutes just to put another defender on Bryant? With Ray Allen, Pierce and Posey already guarding him. Couldn't this free up these players to guard someone else, protect their fouls and allow Pierce to go off offensively. I expect potentially an offensive outburst from Pierce in the next game or two in an effort to close the door on Los Angeles. He's due for such a game.

Something has to be done to lighten Pierce's load.

Sending Garnett into the post would help.

Boston needs a star like Pierce of Allen on Bryant. A lesser player would not get the favor of the refs, and Kobe would spend too much time on the line

that is prolly true goblazers, but i would like to see TA on kobe as well. he guarded him great in the regular season game AT LA. & he looked good last night. at least he wasnt lost. he came in & grabbed a couple rebonds & didnt screw up any. give him some pt doc. maybe he could add another spark like eddie has.

A plus ten in two minutes, a key plus ten, is kind of one reason.

Tony Allen is in a contract year. We need a measure of how good he really is another.

Maybe DA has seen enough and we don't want to inflate his bargaining position.

When Doc pulled him out, I got worried because of that +10. He wasn't doing much besides sticking to his man on defense and banging the boards hard, but we made our run when he was in the game. But as it turns out the guy who came in for him, James Posey, did a pretty good job himself.

I would love to see more of TA in game 5. We can at least give all the minutes Doc would consider Sam for to TA. TA can play some D and lighten the load on Ray and Paul.

TA getting Sam's minutes, me likey. As long as he isn't taking PT away from Rondo or House, then YEAH!
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

If not on Bryant, Tony Allen could guard Fisher and Farmar as well. It all depends on how much both Rondo and House will play. I believe Cassell is done. Rivers finally realizes that House is effective in this series.
