But Kobe was never equal to Jordan in the first place.

The only people on this board who thought Kobe was equal to or better than Jordan are the kids who never watched basketball before 2000.

Maybe to the really really homer Laker fans... but some Laker fans dont even consider Kobe top 5 Laker of all time... (Magic, Kareem, West, Wilt, O'Neal)

From a talent perspective he is close to some of the all time greats though it is tough to peg where exactly he fits. I don't want to be to harsh on Kobe though he is still 29-30 he has a lot of time to improve his resume currently it isn't on par with the top 10-15 greats.

I really know the comparisons are pathetic, no one was ever on Jordan's level. But skill and talent wise, I think their pretty close. However, Jordan's will, drive, passion and love for the game makes comparing Kobe to Jordan like comparing James White to Sasha Vujacic, athleticism vs just too much passion.

I don't know why the media and fans have to have the next Jordan. Kobe is Kobe. He is a damn good player, the best player in the NBA right now. But he is not and will not be Jordan. Ever. Stop trying to find the next Jordan, it's not going to happen.
