Is it my overactive imagination, or have there been fewer replays during the finals than during the regular season? It seems like there are several times each game when I yell "let me see that again" at the TV, only to see nothing.
Usually it's on foul calls, which brings out the conspiracy theorist in me. Would the NBA purposely avoid showing replays on questionable calls so that the officiating isn't brought into question as much? Especially when it's under so much scrutiny already? Or wouldn't they be able to have any influence over that?

CSN always has more replays especially of fouls, because it is a point of emphasis with tommy, i just resign myself to the fact that most questionable calls your not going to see a replay of on national TV
and not showing 38 year old P.J brown yamming on Kobe shows the bias
that was awesome, where is the super slow motion when you need it

i was wondering the same thing on bogus foul calls & i figured it was b/c of the conspiracy theory & the crap refs.
what tripped me out last night was when they showed the replay of kobe's "block" on pj when there was a foul called & mark jackson said "there's no way thats a foul, clean block!" i almost died right there. kobe didnt even get any part of the ball. he slapped his wrist. pathetic how biased everyone is towards LA

I guess the NBA doesn't want to make Kobe look like that much of a B!tch, because PJ's dunk was sick...

Agreed, but I wish they had done that with PJ's yamming one on Kobe's head! That would look great on HD too.
You can't show the chosen one be punked, by an old timer. Come on man, the politics of sports. ESPN has crowned KB24 to be MJ. It is pretty evident that he is not MJ,unless that means michael jackson. Some tool who crumbled under the spotlight and never lived up to what he was supposed to be.

I can't be certain but some non-replays seem suspicious to me. Those with Tivo have no problem here because they can replay this for themselves. For others they are left quessing. If there is any truth to the allegations that David Stern is responsible for conspiring with refs to sway outcomes of certain games to bring about a given result, i.e. a seventh game in a playoff series, then he deserves to go to jail.
I'm a fan of Mr. Stern. I think this great game owes him a great deal, but he runs this league in trust and once you violate that sacred trust you go down that road of pro-wrestling and to some degree boxing. Innocent until proven guilty but with all the suspicion of throwing games, gambling, and false calls and non-calls it would not surprise me if a mechanism was set up at the top to show promos/slides/video other than replaying a questionable call. Everything seems to be under the microscope right now.
Let's remember refs are human and bad calls are part of the game. We have the benefit of multiple birds-eye-views as TV viewers. If you've ever refed an intramural game it's hard to always get it right when you are at ground level with all those bodies obscuring your view. We also as fans don't have the pressure of millions of fans loving or hating us depending on a whistle and our decision when so much is at stake. I'd probably die of a heart attack at 44 if I was a ref in a pro-sport.
I will also say last night and in this series and throughout the playoffs some egregious calls were made which have gone both ways. Last night Garnett had a clean block on Odom early which he was called a foul against us and put him in foul trouble. However at the end of the game Garnett clearly fouled Gasol down low but then Posey came over and fouled him after and we got lucky. One foul that was so clear and not called for us which was not replayed was end of the game Sasha grabbed Allen's jersey at the back neck line and yanked him backwards to attempt him from getting the ball. The game was over but it seemed clearly flagrant but Ray being a class act did nothing since the game was ours.
As far as conspiracy theories remember this:
People conspire everyday towards positive and/or negative ends. Although the word is almost always used in a negative light due to conditioning, the terms conspiracy and conspire do not always imply a negative intent.
